I went with two kids under 12 specifically to see Shakespeare's First Folio. The exhibit with the folio was excellent and helped the younger child understand why Shakespeare is important. While there we also looked at the Markus Brunetti Cathedral exhibit-very cool. Both kids loved this part of our visit.

We went specifically to see the Markus Brunetti Photographic Exhibition, on its only visit outside New York. Drive there see, fly there, walk, to this exhibition of about 20 Very Large photos (just not the right word to describe these works of art). I was totally blown away by these spectacular images of selected European Cathederals. Do yourself a favor... More

A very expansive contemporary museum on the campus on the UW-Madison that is centrally located, with Van Galder Coach Lines and Badger Bus that stop right in front (for same day travelers). The multiples displays are houses within a cubist post-modern multi-level interior which is easy to navigate and stroll through. Classic Greek artifacts highlight the breath and scope of... More

If you enjoy art, this is a must stop on a visit to the University of wiscon or to Madison. There are two connected buildings which themselves are very interesting. The collection is quite eclectic. allow a couple of hours. Admission is free.

This art museum is a hidden gem. Don't go when you're in a hurry. There are also benches to rest throughout.

I was surprised by the breadth of the collection at this museum. It is a jewel in Madison. They offer docent tours every afternoon

Give yourself more than 2 hours. Free! Donations gladly accepted. Three stories of diverse art, history and interesting statues, dishes, pottery. There is often an artist in residence to learn from. Beautiful building, great part of town. Wisconsin artists are represented, but there are treasures from all over the planet.

An excellent museum in the Campus of the University. A varied collection in a rambling captivating bulding. Rothko, Miró, Warhol but classical paintings from medieval european artists. Modern and antique sculptures, etc.

Ok, so this isn't the Louvre, and as a consequence they do not have a large amount of well known artists in their displays,,,, but what they did have was very interesting, sometimes provocative, but above all well rounded in style and period representation. Spent about 5 hours there to see every gallery and really enjoyed my day. I would... More

Madison is so fortunate to have this museum. The collections and the space are wonderful. We have especially enjoyed seeing the 10'x13' mural by Mr Ikeda progress over the last 2 years.
