Amazing collection!

Very eclectic collection, but outstanding quality. Multi-period areas for all different likes. By the way, it's free.

If you are in Madison don't miss a trip to the Chazen Museum of Art. My favorite part of the museum was the "objects" room .In this room you are surrounded with glass cases of wonderful pieces from different cultures. You can walk around the glass case and wonder about the collection. Make sure to sit and browse thru the... More

We recently returned to the Chazen to see the temporary exhibits--one of photographs of European church facades and the other of French cartoons lithografts. Both were interesting, visually pleasing, and well presented. We parked in the Lake Street public parking ramp, just a short walk from the museum.

This museum is located off the University's Library Mall just beyond the end of State Street. It has a well-curated collection of art from various periods and continents, including medieval to modern Europe, as well as Africa, Asia, and an impressive collection of contemporary work. The collection is deceptively large for a free museum. Allow plenty of time if you... More

First this museum is larger than we expected and it is free. Beautiful building with an excellent variety of art. Gift shop and coat closet in addition.

I had some time to kill waiting for my daughter so decided to take in this museum. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of it's collection. It ran the gamut from ancient to contemporary pieces. Some was very good and some was amusing. Admission is free. They have maps at the front desk. You should allow 2-3... More

Spent an afternoon here just wandering and have surprise after surprised. A wonderful and eclectic collection. I am a fan of Calder and Moore and was delighted to be up close to their work in a way rare in other museums. Was also introduced to new artists, especially sculptors I didn't know. The museum was full of college students, parents... More

I went with two kids under 12 specifically to see Shakespeare's First Folio. The exhibit with the folio was excellent and helped the younger child understand why Shakespeare is important. While there we also looked at the Markus Brunetti Cathedral exhibit-very cool. Both kids loved this part of our visit.

We went specifically to see the Markus Brunetti Photographic Exhibition, on its only visit outside New York. Drive there see, fly there, walk, to this exhibition of about 20 Very Large photos (just not the right word to describe these works of art). I was totally blown away by these spectacular images of selected European Cathederals. Do yourself a favor... More

A very expansive contemporary museum on the campus on the UW-Madison that is centrally located, with Van Galder Coach Lines and Badger Bus that stop right in front (for same day travelers). The multiples displays are houses within a cubist post-modern multi-level interior which is easy to navigate and stroll through. Classic Greek artifacts highlight the breath and scope of... More
