Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful experience on Hatton, Nuwara eliya Road.
This waterfall said to be the widest in Sri Lanka.
Have a nice view point in the main road and you can visit a little museum as well. They will explain the story and project related to this waterfall which is a nice experience.
Recommended and must see place.

Steep Hike upto the waterfall. Wish there were better washrooms. Pathway made along most of the way. Good place if you like a small hike and splash of water. But nothing outstanding

I had a pleasant view of this from the train en route to Badulla.
It lacks the beautiful rainforest scenery of so many waterfalls in Philippines, but still was enjoyable to see.
The train offers a higher vantage point than the road, another reason why travelling by Sri Lankan railways and not expensive hired car is the way to go.

Searching for the usual place where we stop for some strong tea at the view of Devon falls, we ended in stopping at St. Claire falls view for a change.
This is also known as local Niagara falls and when you observe the fall, this is wider than any other falls in Sri Lanka.
The place was too cold by 6 PM but it was fantastic. We had our tea at the restaurant that views St Claire and relaxed for some time before we resume to Nuwara Eliya.
Never miss this place on your way to Nuwara Eliya.

A very beautiful water fall along the way to Nuwara-Eliya
Unfortunately less water due to the hydroelectric power station but still looks stunning.

On your way to Nuwaraeliya this wider waterfall gives you a nice view. There are two tea centers near by. St Clare's tea center and Mlesna Tea center. We had tea and chocholate cake at St Clare's tea center and had a very good view of the fall and also took nice grup photos with the fall in the background.

This was once a very beautiful waterfall, until the construction of the Upper Kotmale Dam. Since then very less water is available. Not as beautiful as before.
Situated by Hatton - Nuwara Eliya road one will not miss this waterfall. Observation points are constructed. But if one wants to go closer, can take a journey through tea estates. but not easy.

This waterfall is dying due to the Upper Kotmale Project. The water levels are drastically low and the beauty of the fall is vanishing.

Sri lankan niagara falls- widest falls in sri lanka. Beautiful falls from the view point , small steps downwards (not closest to the fall) through out the tea estate. Easy access View point is on the road talawakele - hatton, even from the train also can view on the way also.

You can go near the falls, it's about 200-300m from the viewing platform. The steps would not lead near the waterfalls but there's a footpath which is slippery. Please be very cautious and make sure to take an insect repellent.

As you are traveling by train, it is best to get off at Talawakele railway station and take a tuk tuk to St Clares water fall as you can view it from the view point which is located in the Hatton-Nuwaraeliya road. There you can watch it from the view point and return back to the railway station and return to Nanuoya in another train .
