- Julie B15 contributionsSumi Tours and tripsRiu hotel is fabulous! But even better is Sumi ! We booked our day excursions with a guy called Sumi at the beach gate entrance from the hotel .His services have been phenomenal. Don’t hesitate to book with Sumi . He lives just a stones throw away from the hotel and the attention to detail and thoughtfulness is second to none . We travelled to Sigiriya rock ,elephant national safari & river tour . Planning and execution was perfect and we beat the crowds every time . There are a few tuktuk guys at the beach gate and you may feel nervous and intimidated, don’t be , but ask for Sumi and everything is great . The trips cost much less than the TUI trips which allowed us to do more ! And we had our own mini bus and guide which made the whole experience truly special . Any trip can be tailored to you and your family’s request also . We’d give 1 million ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ He made our trip a holiday of a lifetime ❤️Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 December 2023
- Michelle SAshington, United Kingdom34 contributionsSampath ToursThe beach is beautiful for walking - uncrowded and there are a couple of great spots for drinks and food. Many there trying to sell tours however I would definitely recommend Sampath Tours. He does not work from the beach but is used by some of those agents. Sampath is a driver/guide from The Heritance and personally serves management from The Riu. He is extremely attentive, polite, knowledgeable and has a modern very well cared for car. We used him for several long trips and everything worked perfectly. His phone number is +94 76540 2575.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 January 2024
- John M43 contributionsWithout exception an amazing beach resort with a fabulous hotel and tuk tuk driver Raja!An amazing beach washed by a warm Indian Ocean. We stayed at the RIU hotel right in the beach which was fabulous! Great food and people! We used a very reliable tuk tuk who took us everywhere. Very safe, courteous and reliable. We couldn’t recommend more. Raja is ex military so a very sound background. +94 77 417 0855Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 February 2024

After a few visits I feel obligated to spread the word about the humble man Mr Chandima doing these massages. Small house hidden in a jungle shadow just before the Junge Beach restaurant. You can relax with massage and hear the ocean waves. In case you would like to book your massage WhatsApp +94 77 160 8356Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 April 2024

He really took care of the 9 of us. Gave lots of advice, very good pricing compared to other big tour companies and he always had our best interest at heart. We did all of the best activities with no hassle or any confusion/issues. Strongly recommend him for any tours you need in Ahungala!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 September 2024

Very quiet area outside hotel. Not touristy at all. Nearest is Bentota 20 mins away or Hikkaduwa 30 mins away Lovely long beach for walking. Sea rough wouldn’t recommend swimming in it. Need a driver ? Contact Thilina Tours (Tilly)+94 (77) 323 2814. He also does airport pickup/ drop off reasonable costs in addition to day trips

This trip was amazing from start to finish. Despite having a moderately dodgy start where our luggage arrived a day late, this was an absolutely amazing experience. When arriving at the hotel you are taken aback by the Colonial Frontage and splendour of the building. The Reception staff are there to greet you with sweet spices and a cool fruit drink along with a gleaming smile.
Once check in was complete we were taken to our sumptuous room where we were taken aback. It was crisp clean and cool. A quick shower and then down to the pool bar for some much needed beers. We were treated to a cool drought of Lion Lager which slated our thirst quite often during our stay.
The food was gorgeous in the air conditioned restaurant with a vast choice of culinary treats. All served with a gratifying smile and genuine willing to please.
Our excursions organised by our travel company were amazing with Piyal, who showed great pride.
At the hotel we were treated Royally by Darshana and his impressive staff whose attention to detail and service were magnificent. Darshana really went the extra mile and beyond. This was also demonstrated by Trivayanka, who took on the task of locating the aforementioned lost luggage with relish and indeed made sure it arrived the next day. She was always ready to greet with a beaming smile.
The Hotel was magnificent, the people amazing and Sri Lanka with its vibrant colours and people was a magnificent experience. Thank you for making our holiday incredible.

Great place to walk or jog regardless if in the morning, mid day or eveing. There are almost no people and you can walk/run for miles watching birds, animals, and waves, fishermen boats. To say nothing about swimming in the warm ocean. It is clean and nice.

A really nice beach with nice bays and a view point at one end. Not too many people, but once guests from Riu head out you also encounter local "sales" people. Amazing views in the early morning sun

Calm, quiet, private. There are a few dogs on the property who will adopt you with a sniff over test and they will keep you company, albeit at a respectful distance unless you beckon them closer. Early morning, on the beach with your dog... bliss...

Hilfe! Mich nervt die Touristen Abzocke hier. 😡
1. Wie sind die wirklichen Preise für eine Fahrt mit dem Tuk Tuk pro km?
2. Was kostet ein Auto inkl. Fahrer für einen Tag?
3. Was kosten diverse Ausflüge ins Umland? Die TUI Angebote sind ja auch super teuer.
4. was darf 60 min Massage kosten?
