Extremely disorganized and intended for the locals and not foreigners. Shuttle bus is available but only allowed to buy a single stop even though the shuttle buses are empty. It’s a large park and the shuttle should loop the park but it doesn’t. Tried to rent a scooter but most of them were discharged and the available ones were rented to locals over foreigners. Obviously they are not interested in renting the golf carts or scooters because the discharged machines are not connected to power to be charged. Since we couldn’t rent a scooter we walked to the orchid garden and along the way there was a second rental kiosk but they were “closed” which means they could be bothered with renting. The orchid garden had 3,155 orchids but only one was blooming. After a terrible experience we decided to cut our losses and leave. Which means we had to walk because there is no shuttle to pick us up.

Bali botanic garden is astonishing beautiful botanic garden, clean and great view toward the lake. The place is good for family or large group to enjoy the garden walk around the big trees or for picnic. the botanic garden has 157,5 hectare. The landscape is mountainous. You can rent bike or self drive buggy.
Over all, Bali botanic garden is very beautiful place. Enjoy

We spent about an hour here, would have done more but it was raining. very nice especially the cactus building. Unfortunately many jerks carve their initials into the cactus. I would have liked to see one & take care of that problem. The bird park is better however.

Sorry to say that although the main areas were clean, when you walk off into the back roads there is rubbish everywhere. See a quite beautiful spot with a sitting hut and you'll find coffee cups, food wrappers and cigarette boxes all over the ground. Its not just here but all over Bali. Its such a cool place and such a great idea to have botanical park full of amazing plants and trees, but some visitors are just so ignorant of the value and beauty of nature they just throw their rubbish on the ground. Very disgusting!! Sorry I didn't get a photo but I'm staying close by and will take a few shots if I have time. Worth a visit, yes, but some very disappointing garbage areas to spoil the view!!!

From the road you'll see little more than grass, roads and a few gardens that aren't near as manicured as those at the big resorts.
This is Bali, not a photocopy of what tourists think Bali should be... It is a little wild, a little overgrown but that is the real Bali.
Get out of the car and away from the road and you'll find some beautiful spots you'll never forget.
The green moss covered trails behind the treetop adventure are to die for!
Go... Explore.. Keep your eyes open. Don't expect it to be handed to you on a plate and you'll love it.

Reading some of the reviews, can't figure why anyone could point out fault for this place. It is run by the government, was beautiful and well kept up. A long time not really needed, one could just drive through and get out and look whenever something draws your attention. It is quite worth the US$2 entrance fee. Lots of school kids there later in day, so I found that early in the day was better. Cool and shady, the morning mist added to the mystique of the place, with huge trees everywhere. Not sure if I would travel many hours just to see this, but there are so many nearby things to see, like the Ulun Danu Temple and GitGit waterfall, as well as heading up the road to visit Lovina beach. Don't miss the strawberry shake at Strawberry Stop and check out the flowers there as well.

I spent 4 days in the refreshingly cool air of the Bali Highlands in Bedugul recently.
Being a plant and garden lover, I ventured up to the Botannical Gardens on the hillside above the town. To find it, I asked locals since the sign posts are hard to find.
An easy direction is, as you drive down the hill on the main road from the south, you will see a large concrete corn cob in the road. Take the small road under the gateway at about 11 o'clock. It leads past 3 low-end home stays to the garden entrance less than a kilometer away.
Parking is easy and the entry fee is 20,000rp. If you are coming during the week, bring water and a picnic lunch since the cafe appears to be closed then.
For the athletic types there is an extensive adventure park located to the left side of the main entry. This has climbing, zip lines etc. A free map is available at the ticket kiosk and to take in all the noted attractions such as the orchid house, begonia house, jungle and the various plantations of bamboo, spice, palms etc takes at least 8 hours!!
There are toilet blocks (no paper) dotted around the whole area which covers more than 3000 acres. There are well maintained concrete paths leading everywhere and signposts to guide you. It is very easy to navigate and makes an ideal day out for even the most unfit walker.
Majestic jungle trees and tree ferns shade wonderful spaces for tranquil picnics or even a bit of meditation.
There is a small staff canteen on the bottom level of the admin offices located up the hill from the last roundabout on the main roadway which is open every day.
During the week there are very few visitors so you can almost have the place to yourself.
For those who want to spend an unforgettable evening/night, a guesthouse and VIP digs are available inside the gardens.
The three home stays along the road are very basic but this is reflected in the price of around $15 a night.

After waiting in a kilometer of traffic (it was a holiday), entry was Rp. 20,000 per person, plus Rp. 12,000 for the car. There was no charge for the driver.

The gardens are expansive, so most visitors drive around on the interior road network.

There was little to see. It's September. Not a single orchid was in bloom... in fact, we saw only three flowering plants in the entire place. There are no flower beds. The bamboo forest was impressive... but that's it.

If you're expecting a tropical Kew or Kirstenbosch, you'll be disappointed.

If a picnic is your thing, it's wonderful, featuring vast grassy areas that can easily accommodate a huge crowd.

Many beautiful sights to see in the Botanic Garden, lots of different flowers, trees and themes. The Bali treetop adventure is a must do though!

There were a few brave souls who were walking through the acres and acres of botanical garden. We chickened out and drove through. The local cabbies tend to take the straight road from the entrance to save time, but if you do so, you miss the deserted Pura Luhur Pucak. This is a glorious temple structure that looks uncared for, but still has hints of a glorious past.
The rest of the space has certain spots like the cactus garden where you can park and have a look. Otherwise, a slow drive through is recommended.
