Overview

President Harry S Truman took America from its traditional isolationism into the age of international involvement. Despite his power, he never forgot where he came from. Today, visitors can experience the surroundings Truman knew as a young man of modest ambition through his political career and final years as a former president.

This was a very beautiful home. It must have been great growing up in this house. I wish I could have taken pictures but they said no pictures. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had.

President and Mrs. Truman's home (which was her childhood home, where they moved after they married and returned to after his term ended in January 1953) is exactly as it was when Mrs. Truman died in 1982. This ex-presdient and first lady ate breakfast in...More

My husband and I enjoyed the tour of the house (even when a ranger complains about taxes, forgetting our taxes pay his own salary!). The house is as the Truman family left it after Bess Truman's passing. The tour emphasizes the family life and family...More
