- Peter MMataram, Indonesia242 contributionsVery nice to kick back and have a quiet drink or snack while watching the world go by.Legian beach is beautiful with lots of sun lounges with umbrellas and chair/ tables to sit under an umbrella to have food or a drink. These facilities belong to each stall holder up under the trees. When you sit down they will approach you and if you don’t order a drink or something off them will charge you for the use of there facilities. Best to order from them immediately and they will then usually forgo the charge. Lots of beach sellers but not as many as on Kuta beach. If you don’t want to buy anything don’t look at them as they walk by and be quick to tell them no or you will be swamped with sellers.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023
- Antonie SBeldon, Australia412 contributionsBoxed inEvery year there is a new idea on how to improve kuta beach. Some are good like the new skate park, some are okay like the extension of the footpath on the beach side from the main entrance heading in the direction of the beach walk shopping centre which is great for an easier beach walk but where there is erosion stairs ways of sand bags to access the beach and a total look of untidiness. If you really want to stop the erosion replace all the palms that were cut down in the 1970s. Some things are just bad like the new wooden boxes that are meant to separate all the businesses but in reality are just eye sore and destroys the view. You can no longer see the beach clearly from the road and you can no longer see people passing by if your on the beach. If your a regular beach sitter don't expect the lovely Balinese friends you've made to be in the same spot as we found out. We shall see how long this new idea lasts if it manages to survive the first monsoon season.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 November 2023
- claireandryan3Perth, Australia80 contributionsLovely spot to sit and watch the sunsetLovely spot to sit on the beach and relax, Sitting having an ice cold drink while watching the sunset is a must do while in Bali. The new beach path and toilet blocks are a welcome addition. One of the things to absorb at the beach is all the hawkers trying to sell their goods, you can relax and the shopping will come to you.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 January 2024
- aaronaus6Wollongong, Australia207 contributionsAmazing to watch the sun set over the waterWhat a sunset!!!! So nice. The Bali beaches seem a bit cleaner than they previously were. The constant bombardment of those selling bracelets can be a bit off putting. Was nice to get a message on the beach, have a drink and watch the sun set.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 April 2024
- Shirin TVietnam160 contributionsExperience at Legian beachI am a beach lover. Beaches in Bali is not so calm for swimming, but sunset view is amazing. In legian beach, I liked the most food and restaurants, cafes nearby. You can enjoy live music at the beach. Drawbacks are annoying sellers and waitresses. Even you don't want to eat or buy something they keep asking😤Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 25 July 2024

This beach is much more relaxed and cleaner than other beaches around.
In my opinion not great for for families with children. Too many haglers trying to sell useless stuff for absurd amount of money.
Waves were a bit strong, I don't recommend for casual swim, maybe for surfers it would be more suitable.

Legian beach is a great beach for a swim, surf, long walk or run. You can also get a massage, pedicure souvenirs or anything you desire, It’s a bit quiet through the day at the moment due to COVID but nights are busy with locals. You can always get a cold beer, great sunset and almost any type of food you’re after. Lots of sun lounges and umbrellas for rent all day. Really good beach scene to see.

Legian beach, sitting by the beach ⛱️ without being hassled to buy stuff from hawkers, it's not my cup-a-tea. I didn't enjoy my time there. I wish there is a law, like respecting "No thank you". It's hard work buying stuff if u don't bargain, you get ripped off, if you bargain, never ending backwards and forwards. It's quite tiring.

Came here early 2019 and it seemed okay, returned this year and the beach is way worse with a lot more vendors all the way along it and a 100 times more rubbish on the beach and in the water. No one seems to have control of anything happening on the beach and very ‘sparse’ efforts to clean it up. All of this is a shame as the town offers some great hotels, restaurants and bars and should have a great beach to go with it.

The beach itself is great with lots of beach bars, street vendors and nice long boardwalk, nice long beach walks to Kuta or Seminyak.
However the conditions last week were quite poor. Enormous amounts of garbage, smelly brown water spots (no idea what that stuff is) and no swimming allowed for the entire week. Not that the water was particularly enticing in the first place.
It's really sad to see that such a wonderful natural resource has been run down to such pitiful state. We will not return there unless this gets better.

stayed around legian street this month when revisited Bali.cuz quite a long time ,almost two years not been to bali, i really miss sunset and beach in Bali, so decided to come here to see the sunset, but that day cloudy, cant see sunset.though no sunset,Legian beach still worth a visit.it connected kuta beach, you can walk from legian beach to kuta beach.so i walked along the beach to kuta.you can see people getting a massage here, drinking a beer here, relaxing on the sunbed here, playing balls here.you may think it is crowded, before pandemic, i did think so,but after two years,i wish the beach always full of people,i didnt meant crowded,at least we must see people doing activities on the beach. beach shouldn’t empty, dont you think so?

The beach and sunset was absolutely amazing. There are a lot of people on the beach selling drinks and with lounge chairs . You will get harassed by some salespeople wanting to sell watches, hats, massages and anything you can think of. Part of the charm of Bali if you don't let it bother you too much. The only negative thing was the beach was FULL of trash. I mean for miles as far as you could see. And not by patrons. You could tell it has all washed up from the ocean. Sad, but really not Bali's fault. It's coming from elsewhere.

Cleaner the most other beach’s.
The brothers bar was very kind and honest and located right across from our hotel.
Cold beers at $3 each and all day board rental at $5.
They would also mind our belongings and keep an eye on our kids whilst surfing

It's vary, start from IDR25K per bed to IDR75K, depends on the crowd.

Looking to have a bit of a party on the beach for a combined 60th. Is this possible?
Written 5 September 2018
Yes. Plenty of places either on the beach or just behind would bite your arm off to help you celebrate. SKAI Beach Club at Padma Legian would make a good venue.

I stayed in Canggu (Nelayan Beach) back in October and loved it. There was a stand there with $5 surf lessons. Are $5 surf lessons in legian beach too?
Written 21 April 2018
There will be one of the locals willing to show you how to surf at any of the surf board rentals, negotiate a price directly with them.

hoeveel roepia voor 2 strandbedjes???
Written 29 September 2017
Wij betaalden 100000 rupiah voor 2 bedjes. Dat is omgerekend ongeveer €7.
Written 29 September 2017
If you can stand humid rainy very hot. Then go for it. It will be packed as probably school hols in Australia & lots of people away over there for celebrations. Goodluck. Enjoy the magic of Bali. Just be sensible.

December month good for traveling in bali and water sports too??
Written 20 September 2017
December is monsoon season but it will still be very hot. I travelled over cgristmas and new year and it was hot and it rained randomly. The rain doesnt always last for a long time anyway so you can still enjoy. Have fun

In order to lounge and sunbathe on the beach, is it required to rent a chair? Or can you just throw a towel down on the sand?
Written 2 March 2017
Agree with previous person and with the heavy hawking, as soon as you talk to 1, you will have a million. So either say no and mean no or........Number 32 (older lady) gave my wife the greatest neck/back massage she recons she ever had!!!!
Written 4 March 2017
I want to ask a question that will help all traveler in trip adviser.
How do you negotiate a price in the beach for services, and how much is considered an expensive item or service.
Written 3 January 2017
Depends on the service or item.
My wife and I generally spend the first 2 - 3 days relaxing and browsing for a few hours each day to see what is available, and what, if anything, that we want. We check a sample of markets and fixed price shops if we intend to purchase something. From past experience and after 14 trips to Bali, we have only ever purchased 1 item from a beach vendor; in Lovina in 1995. We find better prices and better quality in the markets and shops without the 'in your face hassle' of beach vendors. we do not have beach massages any more as the other vendors refuse to stay away and are a pain.
That said, beach massages, pedicures, manicures, braiding, etc are similar in price to the standard massage outlets.
If you want to purchase other items on the beach, do your homework first, hone your bargaining skills, ensure items are in working order, not torn, correctly sized, etc.
If you live in Surabaya, you should know the rules - CAVEAT EMPTOR - let the buyer beware.
Have fun.
