Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We first visited Candi Dasa 2 years ago. We liked the peace and relatively non frantic lifestyle of this small village so much that we re-visited again this year. We found lots of souvenir shops and very friendly people. We tried a couple of restaurants (excellent by the way) and had no trouble with the water or the food. The years of the dreaded Bali Belly from anything consumed in Bali have now gone. The restaurants have good clean water and ice and the food is also really good. Enjoy Bali, stop worrying about the Ugly Australian in Kuta and try the wonderful food and scenery of other areas of Bali.
We also discovered quite a few Dive Shops and had a wonerful time Scuba Diving.

This is quite a hard one to review, being that we stayed at the Candi Dasa Beach Resort and loved most of that stay.
My gut tells me that Candi Dasa is "on the up", as a place to go, especially for those seeking to avoid the party scenes of Kuta and Legian. It is very much north of Sanur and a 1.5 hour drive at the most. It is also very much in a rural and growing area. It does not suffer from bad views. To the contrary it has amazing views over to Nusa Penida and the islands beyond.
The main shopping strip is like many Balinese retail swaths of nick nacks and Bintang singlets, the trend of blown glasses on wooden stands or phallic bottle openers. Mass produced bogan cheap buys! All the shops are on the main road and shudder from the trucks on this transient throughfare.
Bars are largely quiet but pay attention, there are some great modern ones popping up. Covid would have devastated much around 2019 to 2021 but it is resurgent now.
This is definitely not a young person's place...yet. But it is worth watching. I predict a trend heading northeast in the not too distant future. I hope tourism visionaries get behind this area.

My second visit this year and becoming a favourite for us.
Candidasa is like a smaller version of Sanur - there is plenty of great beach side accommodation of all standards.
There is plenty of good restaurants within the area , many of which will pick you up for dinner and drop off.
Candidasa is a relaxing spot to do nothing too plus opportunities for water activities from snorkeling to fishing as well.
Only about an hour from Sanur , about half an hour or so from Amed and plenty of attractions nearby to organise a good day tour.

Quiet relaxed town on a single long street (1 to 1 1/2 km long) on the east host of Bali. Plenty of hotels, restaurants and shops to choose from, but without the crowds of tourists in Kuta/ Seminyak. Easy access to all but the far West coast including Padang bai where the boats to the Gili Islands leave from/return. Most hotels are on the beach (mostly sand from coral broken down by the waves but with lots of rocks around). Silver sand beach available by car/boat and plenty of people to take you there. Diving/snorkelling/sightseeing/cooking classes/etc. so you can be as busy or active as you want. Lots of bars/hotels offer evening entertainment. Much more the real Bali than the tourist areas further south.

What a beautiful place to visit and have a vacation. The accommodation here is outstanding, eating out restaurants such a lot to choose from, so much to do here. There is scuba diving, so close to Amed and Padang Bai. Relax or visit the Water Palace's. My husband and I spent two weeks here, we loved it.

Sleepy town towards the east of Bali. Many good hotels, restaurants and even a few shops, but nothing like Seminyak or even Sanur. Beach disappears at high tide. Many interesting places to visit around it. Some coral, but it’s fragile, so please don’t touch or stand on it. Great place for relaxing, especially to avoid the excesses of Kuta.

Amazing place
Stayed at karma Royal
For complete relaxation it’s best place .
Bloo Lagoon spa
I would say the spa was good but as it’s part of the resort we was over charged for the pickup and drop off it’s only 12 km away and got charged almost sane as airport drop off
I was put off by the money minded cheating the tourist by lies
But cant complain about the spa service

The area itself is basically one street. Lots of places to stay and eat, and a few places to shop. It’s a good base to explore the area. A one day tour can cover just about all the sites to see. Our accommodation was lovely. People in this area were friendly. I found it a nice place to relax. The beaches are clean, unlike some in the more populated areas.
