Variously described as the 'Venice of the East' this is a lovely water town. Yes, there are lots of tourists, but the canals, the stone bridges, the boat trips, exploring the very narrow alley ways with their shops and restaurants - especially those along the...More

This place was beyond my expectations. It was a Sunday that we visited and there were tons of tourists, mostly Chinese, but they didn't detract from the experience. The waterways, bridges, narrow alleyways, old buildings, shops, restaurants and temples all made for an incredible day....More

Too commercialised. Expensive almost everywhere. Much job to be done to preserve the site. Baby stroller not recommended.

Very old and nice town on the water. Not easy to visit without speaking Chinese though, I had a big help of my local guide. It was raining which made a bit less fun but many things to visit indoors too. Recommended.
