Blandwood is a beautifully restored historic home near downtown Greensboro. The decor and appointments are period and demonstrate life for the wealthy 150+ years ago. Great way to spend a half day.

A nicely restored home with a pivotal role in the history of Greensboro. My guide was lovely-- she had interesting things to tell me about the mansion and its owners. The gardens were small but beautiful. Parking was easy-- a quick trip and close to...More

Our guide, Ryan, was very knowledgeable of the history not only of the mansion but of the area. My sisters and I have viewed other cities' older areas but none that had as much of the furnishings of the periods. A definite place I would...More

Matt was our very knowledgeable tour guide. I think he said he is a Ph.D. student in history. He provided a wealth of information on the historic home itself, as well as much background information on life and events in North Carolina in the 1800s....More

Terrific tour by Matt. The opportunities to ask questions and engage with him was second to none. He knows his subject extremely well, is entertaining and very personable. The house is a fascinating mixture of 1795 farm house, 1820 farmhouse addition and 1846 Italianate mansion...More

The facing sitting rooms for guests are particularly unique, having duplicate windows for ventilation and sliding doors for protection against the cold. Interestingly the portraits of the Governor and his wife...More

I was treated to a private tour of Blandwood Mansion since tourists seem to be scarce in early February in this area. ( I say this because I was also alone at the more famous Reynolda in Winston-Salem the day before.) The young Millennial who...More

This home, with the main rooms built in the 18th Century, had nearly 5,400 square feet by 1846. It was the first home of Italianate architecture in the U.S. Restored to its original glory. Guide was AWESOME--knowledge incredible. Check hours before going. No admission after...More

We selected to visit the mansion on a weekday after Thanksgiving to see it decorated for the holidays. This Italian style home is the oldest remaining residence on it's original foundation/location. Our tour guide, Matt, was a wealth of information and willing to address every...More

I have been to the Blandwood mansion on several occasions with out-of-town visitors. The home is located in downtown Greensboro and has a great guided tour where you learn a lot of about the history of the homeowners and the structure itself. If you were...More
