We love the Great Smoky Mountains...spent our honeymoon in the area & have visited at least 10 times in the past 5 years. God’s Great Handiwork with the mountains, sunrises, sunsets, wildlife & nature.

This is by far one of my favorite "happy places." Even though we were there in mid to late November, it is still breathtaking. Following along the stream as you drive makes for a wonderful view.

Stop at the Sugarlands Visitor Center just out of Gatlinburg. They are helpful in picking appropriate trails and giving you park information. They also have a gift shop, and we always stop and buy something to support the park (park has no admittance fee) Wife...More

We drove through Cades Cove with 4 kids and it was a beautiful drive! We got out and went in old cabins and an old mill. Our kids loved it, ages 5-13. We went on a rainy day and my son slipped and fell in...More

What an enjoyable drive through the magnificent mountains. Well maintained road with plenty of places to pull over for a closer look. There was a lot of traffic the day we were there but traffic moved well.

The best way to get a full picture of the area is to use the Gatlinburg/Smoky Mountain guides which they will send to you. The weather will be a lot cooler than Texas so plan on layering your clothes. So much to do that... More

Go do the short (2.5mile RT) to Grotto Falls. There are other short hikes, but this falls is one of the best. If you like tourist traps with tourist trap quality and service, you will LOVE Gatlinburg.
