My wife and I stopped off here on our way from Salt Lake City to Idaho as my wife is a keen bird watcher. The sanctuary consists of a loop road with many stop off points to observe the abundant wildlife. The only issue we...More

We stopped at the Bird Refuge on our way South in late October and then on the way North in mid November. On the way South we passed by on a Monday (when the visitor centre was closed), but on the way North we were...More

Be careful about hunting season when you plan your trip - we were sharing the refuge with convoys of large pickup trucks full of guys "managing the wildlife." And bring binoculars - there are so many breeds of waterfowl here, you'll want to know what...More

We stopped here on a Monday and the visitor center was closed. Plan better next time! There is a very nice walking path near the building and we enjoyed that. There is a longer drive available. We drove to the entrance of that but time...More

The loop road through the sanctuary is 10 miles from I-15 and takes about 2 hours to drive. It is a virtually endless bird habitat and will be the delight of any birdwatcher. The environmental education center is large and absolutely fascinating. Allow an hour...More

We visited the visitor center in the past. However we never drove the 12 mile road to see more birds. Although today was the first day of duck hunting season we discovered many birds. Well worth the trip.

There were so many shore birds to see it was fascinating. We came before the white pelicans left to go south for the winter. There were hundreds of them everywhere. I could have watched all the birds and ducks for hours. The only drawback is...More

We stopped first at the Visitor's Center and armed with a map we set out on the drive. We didn't make the entire 12 miles as when we skipped the unpaved loop but we saw plenty of beautiful scenery and a some birds (geese, gulls,...More

We arrived in Brigham City in the afternoon, checked in and took off for the Refuge. The actual auto tour part of the drive is 12 miles - but it can take 2 hours or so depending on how often you want to stop and...More

My husband and I went here today on a whim after watching the Peach Days Parade in Brigham City. We weren't sure what to expect. It's a 20-minute drive from I-15 through flat farmlands. The loop itself is an unpaved but very do-able road with...More

They are usually not bad anytime during the year. I have spent a lot of time on the refuge and have never been bitten by a mosquito. It would still be a good idea to have se repellant just in case. Midges can be bad... More
