Great alternative hike that will give you scenery similar to The Wave.
We took an awesome hike on the Beehive trail, which is located half a mile from the visitor center at Glen Canyon Dam. You take a right out of the parking lot and then the first left is where the parking for the trail is located. The park ranger suggested doing this hike as it was an alternative to The Wave since that is so limited. It was a beautiful 2 mile round-trip hike. Make sure you take the side trail to the scenic lookout as well. Stunning views from the top! This was one of our favorite hikes while staying in Page.

Do all day kayak from Dam to Harpers
We. Rented kayaks and boat service back hauls up to a safe distance below Glen Canyon dam. You then have whole day to float back to Harper’s ferry. Can stop whenever you want and when you get to Harper’s ferry just leave rented gear by side of lot. Got to see Horseshie bend from bottom and next day went to top. We’re able to get a picture of us from someone who was on top. Very cool!!

Spend a few days in area a lot to see
Spend a couple days and take in the whole place. Some of the areas above the dam are quiet and you are all alone. Below the dam is absolutely amazing Do some kayaking from Harper Ferry with a vendor to back haul you to below dam

    Purely Photo Op Visit
We didn't get on the water, which would have been a whole different perspective, but we did enjoy the photo spots we stopped at. We parked and walked across the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge, we visited the Carl Hayden Visitor Center, and we went up to the Wahweap Overlook. I knew the water was low from the news stories over the past few years, but it was startling how low it was. Hopefully there is a comeback sooner rather than later.

Shore Drive through Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is well worth the time. It's a easy drive on a well maintained paved road with several gorgeous overlooks. There is a marina with a restaurant also work the time. The views of the dam and from atop the dam are also beautiful.

This is simply another amazing attraction in Page. We started our morning here venturing to see the sunrise. It was a short walk from our hotel but it offered incredible view of the dam and the canyon. In addition is was simply awesome to see the sun rise and desert change colors with the sun. From here you can see Vermillion Cliffs in the distance and the way they change is incredible. See the pictures but they will not do it justice. Additionally, like many places in Page, you will have an incredible view of geologic history. So many features you learn about in books like sedimentary rock that is changed to metamorphic, then tilted by faulting, can be viewed here. For us it was a great way to start the day and just an awesome thing to see. There are so many canyons on the Colorado and each seems as amazing as the other. Again this is another MUST SEE.

Great visitor's center, explaining how dam was built, etc. difficult to take pictures of the dam because of chain link fence. Could view river and the effects of high water use and drought. Wish we could have walked on the dam.

Several great views. We visited the Glen Canyon Dam. Interesting. The short hike to the Hanging Garden was worth. An oasis in the middle of a desert area. The water level was low. Interesting to see the difference between the water line from a flood in the 1980's and the current water level.

The sign for this is small, and can be missed easily off of the highway. There are multiple spots to sit down and admire the views. There is one shaded area to sit under. Plenty of parking. No cost to get in. And easily accessible for any and all ages. Bring your own water, as there is no vending machines, or any stores close by. There are no bathrooms at this location. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The views are amazing. Well worth it.

It must have been even more fabulous before they flooded it.
This is a big area. Starts west of Canyonlands in Utah & ends at Marble Canyon in Arizona.
Although boating & water recreation is a given, there's also hiking & fishing at Lee's Ferry. Lots of marinas.
3 visitor centers - at Bullfrog, Carl Hayden in Page & Navajo Bridge in Marble Canyon.

We were traveling to Page and came across the Glen Canyon Dam overlook and Visitor Center. The displays at the Visitor Center were very nicely done. They have a large window overlook inside and you can also take photos outside. A gift shop is inside here as well. Pick up a map here and you can find how to drive to the dam overlook down the road. We had not planned to stop here but we found this to be an enjoyable stop.

not much of the area left to see due to low water levels. Can walk along bridge to see dam and over observation areas. The recreational area looks abandoned. Though we were there in march, i would have thought it would be busier. But.....i guess due to the water levels, not much to offer. sad
