Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The heart of downtown Brooklyn has seen better days. It is now a pedestrian mall and the best features are in the new skyscrapers that have been recently completed. Otherwise the old department stores are gone as well as much of the other commerce. And it is dull. Still you can get something to eat and do some shopping in the malls in the skyscrapters.

I’ve been shopping at the Fulton Street Mall since I was a child. It’s always been a major shopping area. When I was a child the main stores on Mays , Alexandria and A&S Strauss. Now. you have Macy’s, target, TJ Maxx, Aldo and many more. Basically you can find anything you need without going into Manhattan.

Wow, what a variety of shopping. Macy's, Gap and the like along with factory stores, specialty shops and more.

It's not unusual for me to be booked into a hotel adjacent to an upscale shopping area. This time I was next to the Fulton Shopping Mall - a section of Fulton St. in Brooklyn dedicated to everyone.

I spent a couple of hours strolling, shopping, eating and people watching. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I also took a stroll in the evening. Although not much is open late, the area still felt comfortable and safe to walk late into the evening.

Though this may seem like an odd comment, I feel compelled to add I felt so comfortable I didn't notice at first I was one of the few white people around. Frequently the only white person in a store. For those visitors who may lead a very sheltered life I urge you to go, shop and mingle. You will enjoy yourself in an everyday setting with everyday people.

This street was near my hotel and has a variety of mid and low end shops. I mostly visited Citypoint, which has a Trader Joes, a Target, downstairs food mall and a Century 21 (for Amazon lockers). As a tourist, the shops here offer the essentials and small eats to buy for late night snacking.

It's a shopping area. An outside mall. Mostly closed to car traffic and easy to get to from anywhere in NYC. But it's just a shopping area. You can see the last A&S Department Store building - Just the building, it's a MACY'S now. I live in Brooklyn, so I go often and shop there. But it's a mall.
Note!!!
Note: Not a place to be after dark, especially for a tourist.

This used to be the main street of downtown Brooklyn, full of stores and life. And then it became a low-income shopping bazaar, still lively, but not prosperous. Now is has almost completed a transition to new apartments and hotels and the shopping has all moved indoors to malls. The street has lost its life.

Fulton Street Mall is full of average shopping, but the historic buildings, street vendors and mix of diverse cultures makes it interesting and worth visiting.

With the variety of major city stores at the Fulton Street Mall there is no need to venture into tge city. Apart from the small bargain shops one can indulge in H and M, Century 21, Target, Express, Forever 21, Macy's etc.

Definitely worth a visit before venturing into the city.

Some good stores, very busy area but being totally honest I didn't feel too safe here, I certainly would not to be here after dark.

Not my first rodeo at this location but I’m getting the same results each time ;
Lackluster. New Years Eve my partner and I went for a quick dinner and it was a disaster . Our waiter didn’t know any wines - at all. I had to spell Zinfandel for him so he could look to see if they served it, and Moscato got me a dumbfounded look like , what’s that?! Fine , he’s young and doesn’t drink . Orders placed , my companion received his dinner( dried salmon) no lemon even - about 15 mins before my (dried, hard) chicken parmigiana showed up. I inquired on my long wait and was told my dinner was waiting on the pasta. I asked for management as soon as it arrived and I couldn’t cut the cutlet due to how tough it was and dark looking and he assured me that it ways overcooked - duh??! I felt it was old cutlets refreshed with new
Mozzarella cheese and sauce. The pasta was great- I have to give them that. He told me to wait, eat the pasta and he’ll fix a new plate. Meanwhile my companion is done, New Years Eve is now a few ticks
away and the staff is already putting chairs on-top of tables . 😩😩He felt by giving me a new plate was enough compensation for time lost and bad food . The new plate was “fresher”’but still somewhat over cooked. He tried explaining to me how the cutlets are frozen and the cook time is, I think
he said 12 mins. Whatever . Last time I dined here they served me rubbery grilled shrimp that I had to return. I’m convinced this location is good for drinks or maybe finger food but the dinners- skip
