Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Turnstile Tours mid-town food truck tour exceeded my expectations. Not only did we get to enjoy plenty of delicious food, we also got to learn a lot from the vendors and tour guide about the past and present of an important part of our city that many often take for granted. It was a great way to reward our staff with a well-deserved treat after several busy months.

Turnstile Tours and Andrew Gustafson give an enlightening and lively tour of one of the most important shipyards, and maybe military installations in the country. Our tour focused on its role in World War II but covered its history from its founding in the early 19th century to the mid-60s, At its peak it employe 70,000 people and was crucial to the war effort building and repairing thousands of vessels. It became known as "The Can-Do Yard" Turnstile and Andrew do a remarkable job bringing the history and importance of the yare to life and carry that story to its present as an incubator hub for industry in New York City. Well worth the trek. The Russ and Daughters bagel bakery on the premises is a huge plus.

The Navy Yards had been on our tour list for many years. While on the tour you don't actually get to see much of the inside workings of the current tenants. The tour rather explains the significant history of the yards and its revitalization. The place has a considerable stake in the history of New York. Doug, our guide was super knowledgeable & had done a lot of research.

Our guide was excellent, both informative and entertaining. He provided an interesting history of the Brooklyn Army terminal and its siting, construction and history. Bedrock, sea lanes in New York harbor, and an early use of poured concrete in building construction all had a role. Its massive scale reflects its massive role in World War II. Our guide also showed us interesting aspects of the Terminal's occupancy and use today, including artisan workshops and a fascinating and extensive art show. (The art show is only open on some days). I had a previous experience of the Terminal, forty years earlier, and the guide was kindly attuned and responsive to my memories and interest.

Amanda took us on the Walking Food Cart Tour. The food was amazing and we learned so much about the food carts, how to tell which ones are good. Don't eat for at least a day before this tour. We had 4 savory stops and one dessert stop and each one was a meal in itself!
Thank you Amanda for an incredible experience!!

We undertook this tour on August 6 because we’re interested in industrial architecture, wartime history, and have read Jennifer Egan’s Manhattan Beach (highly recommended). Tour was a winner with a lot of ground covered and we enjoyed the encyclopaedic knowledge and clear delivery of our guide Andrew. Group was small enough for everyone’s questions to be answered. The passage around the yards was quite brisk and, on the day we visited, it was very hot. There’s not much cover so ensure that you bring a hat and some sunblock. The catering offer on the Sunday we visited was limited apart from the excellent Russ and Daughters bagel shop.

The ”can-do” yard is, in our view, under-promoted and several Brooklynites were surprised that we wanted to view it. But the rooftop view, the dry dock, and the scale of the location repay the effort.

I took the Brooklyn Navy Yard WW 2 Tour. It was informative and the guide was very knowledgeable. The only way it could have been better was if we could have gone back in time and witnessed the yard as it was when full of ships of the fleet under repair. This tour did do a great job of bringing it to life. I especially loved that it was a small group. I strongly recommend taking this tour.

We went on the Brooklyn Navy Yard tour and had a great experience. I'm a historian and my partner is a tool and die maker, so we had different kinds of questions and interests. Our tour guide, Doug, was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic – the whole experience was a treat. I've lived in Brooklyn for nearly 10 years and it was awesome to learn new things about its history. Thanks!

What a wonderful tour, giving us a good overview of much of the park! The route was comfortable (not many uphills) and well-paced--the perfect balance between seeing a lot of the highlights and being able to pause to absorb the beauty of the park. Corinne was our delightful tour guide, knowledgeable and personable. Our group included both newcomers and frequent visitors to the park; we all learned about the history of the park as well as future plans. Highly recommend!
