DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is another great example of a former industrial dockyard area being repurposed for trendy shops, restaurants & apartments. There are several blocks of former industrial buildings now holding retail establishments, with several more building still undergoing renovations. This area has subway stops on either side, so it's relatively easy to get to from elsewhere in NYC.

We took the ferry over and took in the sites---carousel, waterfront, etc. Nice day out but we got stuck in a downpour. Good thing we were able to jump into the food hall by the carousel to kill some time. Great place for drinks and eats.

This is a small neighborhood under the bridges down by the East River. Good place to catch the ferry, see Jane's Carousel, and walk the park along the river. Lots of repurposed warehouses that are now apartments and some offices. Lots of pizza restaurants.

This is a great place for a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge and a lot of people know it – as it was quite crowded when we were there. After taking your pictures, you can walk down towards the water and to the left to sit on a bench and look at the water, or you can walk back to the entry way to walk over the bridge.

Just a short bridge away from Manhattan but the small distance creates a different space that feels like old New York with some tourists thrown in for good measure. Bucket List worthy.

If it weren’t for Brooklyn Flea, we probably wouldn’t have visited the area. So a very nice surprise, another transformation project that delivers, although it now looks very gentrified and tourist oriented. Nice views of Manhattan from its East River promenade. Wandering the cobbled streets without a plan seems to be the best way to enjoy it. There are lots of places to eat or shop, midrange to upscale.
On departure, follow Washington Street to Brooklyn Bridge, climb the stairs and take a walk back to Manhattan. There’s no better way to end your visit.

Finally visited this classic view. Unfortunately an ice cream truck decided to park right in the view. Recommend Time Out Market nearby for drinks or dinner.

We came for the Time-Out Market, Clinton's Bakery to be exact and found the area to be cute! We sat by the water, right in front of Jane's Carousel and it was nice and calming. Great break away from the city. I do agree with some of the comments that there isn't much to do in DUMBO, but it is just nice to unwind and enjoy this cute cozy neighborhood. I would come again for a quick visit and lunch.

Our daughter took lots of photos for her Instagram and we enjoyed watching her and checking out the places to eat and shop. Would loved to have stayed a bit longer to really get the feel of the place.
