This was a great experience not far from downtown Fairbanks. Students offer a nice brief lecture on the universities research of these animals. They also bring them close for great photos.

We drove upto this place which is some distance from the town. There was no one at the entrance, and many others were also going back. There was no sign that it was closed that day.Better management needed.

We thoroughly enjoyed the presentation on the work done at this site with musk oxen and reindeer. The woman was very interesting and well-versed in both species and the work carried on by the station. I would highly recommend this for people interested in animal...More

We were looking for alternatives to the typically heavily promoted cruise ship activities such as the river boat and the gold panning. This was one of the several activities we did in Fairbanks besides Running Reindeer Ranch, North Pole, and the botanical gardens. We enjoyed...More

We went on a day when they were closed. Fortunately, we went about feeding time - 9-10:30. if you walk along the fenceline away from the entrance, you will see muskox up close (within 20yds!). They rest in the woods on hot mornings. BRING YOUR...More

Musk oxen are really unique and weird animals. To see more than one or the reindeer you need to make a contribution. The gift shop has some interesting and educational items for the whole family.

We took the station tour with the naturalist ($10 per person, about 1 hour). She told us interesting information about the animals they have there. We really got to see all the animals really close, but it may not always be like that, depending on...More

Visited the Large Animal Research Station on an overcast day, so we did get to see some of the animals. I liked it much more when you actually had the option to walk around the farm and not just in a little circle.

There were some reindeer and muskox on site, but they were clear out in the woods and had to be herded in to see them. We missed the naturalist presentation, so not sure if the experience was legit. Was okay with the fees, knowing it...More
