Very much enjoyed touring the historic district in Frederickburg. Many very old homes - renovated and restored. George Washington lived here in his youth. Did a walking tour - enjoyed the shops, architectural styles on buildings, trees, streets, pubs, history and restaurants. Lots to do and see in area.

Sleepy town downtown. Some interesting buildings and several shops and places to eat. Start in one side of the sidewalk and walk your way to the end and the cross the street and do the same. If you missed visiting the vineyards on the way you can still wine taste on the Main Street. Don't go away without trying the... More

The trolley tour leaving from the visitors center lasted about 75 minutes. It cost $16 and takes you riding around old town with the driver giving an historical narrative. Nice way to see what you want to walk back to and investigate further because they don't make any stops during the tour. Not too exciting for kids though. Take them... More

The Fredericksburg historic district is lovely. There's a trolley route, which is convenient, and it's laid out on a grid, so it's very easily walkable! Take your time and read the plaques on the buildings. I recommend it!

Lots of great architecture in an easy to walk district. Fun and unique shops include: The Cats Closet for fun cat-themed gifts (and four real cats) ; Riverby Books for rare books ; Heather for unusual and pretty jewelry and gifts. There are also nice places to have a quick bite to eat

To really get an overview of the city, take the trolley ride! Hopefully you get John as your tour guide because he is the best. The tour is 75 minutes and quite entertaining in addition to being extremely informative. However, it really is for adults...the kids on the trolley were bored. We loved the overview of the city and then... More

The historic district has many great examples of architecture throughout the time period that it has existed. The downtown is a bustling place with very few vacant storefronts. There are many interesting antique places, taverns, restaurants, and attractions all in a few block area. It is hilly at some points and the sidewalks and streets are narrow in places, as... More

If you want to absorb yourself in the Colonial and Civil War historical past of Fredricksburg, take the trolley ride. I advise to ride in the early morning in the summer as the ride we took over Memorial Day weekend in the late afternoon was sweltering. Great family fun!

Took the trolley around town. Very nice. We were able to see the town all in one trip and then could go to the places we liked.
