A fun place to see a old movie, or other show. We went to the rising stars production, with school kids. It was a lot of fun. The theater is perfect for this, and we had a great time. It is very interesting to see...More

Go back to the days of classic features on the big screen shown in restored 35mm, or early silent films accompanied by the gorgeous original theater organ. It needs a little cosmetic work, but it has so much to offer even without the pancake makeup....More

I went to a Christian concert here. It was great! It was so nice to hear top artists here in Rome. It is an older theater, but has a lot of character. I hope they have more.

The Capitol Theater in Rome has held a number of themed film festivals over the years including the annual much loved Capitolfest in early August every year. This festival appeals to early movie enthusiasts, meaning lovers of early sound films and of of silent films...More

Half the seats in this place are ratty and literally falling apart. I also went home with flea bites all over my ankles and legs (probably thanks to the cat that they let roam all over the theatre.) I enjoyed the Art Deco architectural details,...More

Capitolfest is held each August at this magnificent 1928 theatre. The selection of films is top-quality. The silent film presentations are enhanced by the magnificant Mohler organ, still in its original placement. Sound films are equally enjoyable in either rare 35mm or digital presentations. The...More

This was really cool if you are an old movie buff. Just to see the theater is impressive - and during the intermission between movies - an old organ located in the orchestra pit is raised and one of the volunteers actually plays it!! I...More

Having always been a fan of this wonderful theater, I make a special effort to attend some of their silent and early sound film showings----especially CAPITOLFEST every August. Rare archival films , some of them never shown since their original releases, are all shown in...More

Thank you so much for your kind words! We hope to see you at this year's Capitolfest, August 8-10, where we will be featuring the films of William Powell, among other great silent and early talkie gems!
