Unique WW II memorial for the local veterans from the war. Sits right on the river in front of the Grand Bohemian hotel.

This is a uniquely designed memorial for the local WWII veterans, so while you're walking on River Street go ahead and check it out. A little history for you and the kids. Nice local touch to honor those who gave their all for American freedom!

Found this as we walked about. Very humbling tribute and very unique. The stuff that we love to find when we are visiting areas.

This is a creative WWII memorial to the soldiers who died as their names are inscribed. I wouldn't go out of my way to see but you can't miss this if you are on the river.

This unusual creation is Savannah's WWII monument. It's situated on River Street so you can't miss it. Well worth a photo.

I stayed at the Bohemian Hotel which is lovely hotel right across the street from the monument. I could see the Monument from my room. Unfortunately this is a high traffic area and thus well worn. My father, uncles, bosses, and most my teachers were...More

The official name of Savannah's World War II memorial is "A World Apart", not Cracked Earth. The monument overlooks the Savannah River, which was significant in the WWII Allied effort. Liberty ships were built in shipyards here, and supplies were transported along this route. The...More
