We enjoyed the beach. We stayed on the North end as we looked towards we could see it was quite crowded. The board walk has limited shopping and the prices are expensive but it has fast food, souvenirs, and a nice but limited atmosphere.

We stayed on Tybee Island . Loved the beach water was great. Easy to walk out to the water. Loved the boardwalk out to the beach. Down side is you pay for parking everywhere you go. Buy a 10.00 pass for the day.

Nice Beach on an island with a lighthouse and some nice restaurants. The beach is clean and has a nice walkway out to the water.

Such a beautiful place to visit. Enjoyed just walking in the sand with my friends and looking for shells.

Spent half day on Tybee Island - island is 3 square miles - nice beaches and one street filled with tee shirt shops/beach items. Stroll out on the pier and enjoy fishing or just sitting enjoying the breeze

We drove over to this beach from Savannah even though it was February. The parking was easy, and there was a very nice nature center right in the parking lot by the beach. Sand was very clean and the restrooms were also clean and good...More

We are staying in Richmond Hill, GA which is 25 minutes from downtown Savannah (Per Mapquest) and want to go to the Beach for a few hours tomorrow. Where should we go where there is not a massive crowd of people and/or parking issues.

I agree with conrad. Get there early, parking will be hard to come by all over town.
I'm from Iowa and taking my daughter on a college visit to South Carolina. She would like to spend a day at the beach, and see Savannah. But we are going March 30-April 2. Is this a big spring break destination? We don't want to be in the middle of wild college shenanigans on this trip!

South beach is removed from the main beach a bit and most of the beach goers go to the central or North beach. Granted that Tybee beach is not that large but I have not seen a lot of Spring break folks there at that time. IF... More
