I have been wanting to meet Pastor Terry Johnson for a while now and was able to attend the service. We were greeted by many people who were glad to have us worship with them. I also had a great friend from Atlanta area who tapped me on the shoulder as he and his wife were there also.
the congregation was friendly and the service was wonderful with great preaching.

While vacationing in the area, we chose the Independent Presbyterian Church as a place of worship on Sunday morning. For such a large church, we were welcomed very warmly by many people there. There was a very friendly family atmosphere. The highlight of the worship service was the exceptional music. These people sing their lungs out accompanied by a very fine organist playing a good-sized pipe organ. In this day and age of contemporary worship music infiltrating churches everywhere, the exceptional music and boisterous hymn singing at this church was a wonderful experience. We would be here every Sunday if we lived in Savannah. This church truly embodies the holy spirit and fully demonstrates that a church need not put on a floor show with movie screens and loud trashy music to fill the pews. This was a truly wonderful worship experience!

We were on vacation in Savannah and attended worship at IPC on Sunday morning. The church is beautiful and the congregation was very friendly. Congregants still dress for church here; I've never seen so many seersucker suits in one place! We were dressed more casually and were warmly welcomed. The service was traditional with soaring organ music.

I really liked this beautuful church with the stunning columns on the front. It really dominates the skyline at this park. Just gorgeous architectural design.

We were fortunate to have a private tour of both the grounds and the inside of the church because our son had been the one who had overseen the redo of the lane connecting the church to the parking area and other buildings directly across from it. The interior is absolutely breathtaking, and now the hardscape has brought the entire campus together in a beautiful and historically correct way. What an improvement!! Good job, Savannah Hardscapes!

We planned our Savannah trip around attending the I P C Christmas service. It was wonderful in every way. On top of being (what we believe) the most beautiful church in Savannah, the music and preaching was awesome. This church isn't open for tours, but if you're in Savannah on a Sunday, I recommend attending a service.

The Independent Presbyterian Church (IPC) was founded by Scotch immigrants in 1755 and has continued to be a presence in Savannah ever since. Its magnificent steeple thrusts skyward as reminder that the everyday life in streets, businesses and home is still under the umbrella of the divine. The sanctuary is beautifully designed with its dark wooden pews facing a very large pulpit from which the Word is preached every Sunday. The interior dome, bathed in light blue, symbolizes the necessity of an openness to God in prayer, song and preaching (very powerful this Sunday with the pastor forcefully engaging the congregation in the biblical text). IPC is more than an historical presence with a host of current educational and outreach programs focused on ministry to the city. Access to the church building is most appropriate for a service or worship.

This church was founded in 1755 and it's still preaching/teaching the gospel. If you're in Savannah on Sunday, you really should attend a service. The organ playing with the choir singing is beautiful.
