Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Chuck gave a great tour. We visited the various squares that are important to the history of Savannah. Hearing about the history was very interesting and informative and he kept everyone interested as we traveled along. Would highly recommend.

Chuck provided a nice, fun, interesting, overview of the historic district of Savannah. He added enough facts mixed in with funny stories and interesting anecdotes that kept the tour entertaining and educational for the entire 1.5 hours. Walking was easy, could sit for a couple minutes at many of the stops if necessary, but was a nice easy, casual stroll throughout Savannah's historical district. Fee was a couple $ for taxes and then you simply tip what you think the tour was worth. Most people tipped $10 or $20 per person. Well worth it.

We elected to book a half day private tour with Old City Walks that is listed on the website as 3 1/2 hours. In reality, they say it is only 3 hours, but we didn't get a full 3 hours either (which ended up being a blessing). We booked a private tour in the hopes of having direct interaction with our guides as we hit spots not on the regular routes of most operators. Upon meeting up with our prompt guide Chuck, it was observed he might have been a little under the weather. Still he seemed ready to go and told us to ask questions and if he didn't know the answer, "he had been doing this long enough to make up an entertaining answer". From the beginning, it was clear the presentation and delivery was very canned and scripted. That is understandable, but we had hoped that the local stories and personal insight most guides share as they move from one point of interest to the next. I always appreciate a local guide or at least one who will do a little extra research. That was nonexistent. We often walked from point to point in silence and when asking questions, rarely did Chuck stop or even turn in our direction to reply. He often spoke in low tones, and at rapid, get this over pace. Even when passing traffic made hearing his information impossible, he never pause to let the distraction pass before resuming. We inquired about the guides associated with Old City Walks, he did share that there are only two and the boss. I asked if the boss also guided tours and he replied, if he has to, but he would rather sit in front of the computer. Once you you go after co workers or supervisors publicly, I'm pretty much done. I have never been on a walking tour I was ready for it to end, and often spend extra time at the end asking additional questions of the guide. This was the first time I was watching my watch and ready to find something else to do. Having spend over $300 on this tour, I can not recommend this particular one for anyone. This company gives many types of tours, so I assume the ratings are more about other offering. The trolley drivers did a better job than this. We took several walking tours during this trip and would highly recommend each, but this one, even if it had been free, would still have been a waste of precious time in a spectacular city.

I liked it a lot because the person that was talking did some jokes to keep the crowd interested.
But… he kinda talked way to fast in a way, and some people from another countries even asked him to speak more slowly and more clearly.

We had a lovely day to enjoy this wonderful city. Our tour guide, Chuck, was great. Low key, but knowledgable and pleasant. We enjoyed the tour immensely. We will probably not pass this way again, we learned much and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Chuck for what you do!

We have previously been on walking tours of Savannah and thought the Grand Savannah Tour would be special, but it wasn’t. We were the only two on the tour and we had to constantly catch up with our guide. We felt as though he just wanted to get through the 2 hours and go home. He gave us a lot of information about Savannah, but it sounded very scripted. Definitely not worth the cost. We sent an email when we got home and never even got a response. So much for 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

It was 106F on this tour day and we had Chuck all to ourselves. The kids who were troopers on this hot day were even listening to the stories and understanding the significant events that shaped the city of Savannah, the region and state of Georgia!
Chuck a native son of Georgia and a resident of Savannah for over 28 years was a keen storyteller and it was a great few hours of time spent with him. Make sure to tip him well! Totally worth the money.

Chuck have us a great tour of the city. He was very knowledgeable and made us laugh a lot. We would certainly recommend him to anyone visiting the city who would like to know more about the history of the city and the significance of the statues, houses, and squares.

Our group took a walking tour with Chuck Norras from Old Savannah Walks/Old City Walks. We learned a great amount about the city and its history. The guide was engaging and answered all of our questions. It was a great way to start the trip so that we were informed about where we were walking for the rest of our stay.

Yes! Most of the tours with Old City Walks are child friendly. Exceptions are the Craft Beer Tour and the seasonal "Backstory Tour."
