This square, laid out in 1851, is named after a former Georgia Governor. At the center of the square is an "armillary sphere." This device was used to track celestial orbits. Here, in Troup Square, this sculpture acts as a sundial.

The large Armillary Sphere is a prominent feature displayed in this beautiful park. It is an eye - catching exhibition. Anybody interested in astrology will surely appreciate it. I did! Dogs will appreciate their water fountain... We thought the Troupe Square was worth a visit...

Savannah has set the bar high for other cities to follow suit on keeping the downtown area green. This is another beautiful square to visit in Historical Savannah.

Named for George Troup, a major political figure in Georgia, this square was laid out in 1851 at the intersection of Habersham and East Macon Streets. The modern metal sculpture (an armillary sphere), a globe based on 6 turtles, is a fascinating piece with the sunlight highlighting different parts depending on the bench on which you sit. The Myers Drinking... More

I am frequent visitor to Savannah and, after Forsyth, this is my favorite square. It helps that it is farther from the River area so only locals and savvy visitors are ever there. One of my favorite restaurants, Firefly Cafe, is on this square and if you eat outside you'll have lovely view of the center artwork. The globe has... More

I may be partial as this is my square but it is very well landscaped with pleasant benches and a dog fountain - a nice place to sit and relax for a while.
