- Brook7 contributionsGreat restaurant, amazing history.Really cool old restaurant with great character. The food is amazing. The fried chicken is the best we’ve ever had. The gift shop upstairs was really neat also.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 September 2023
- GALE YAtlanta, Georgia214 contributionsGood Price for a good mealHad reservations and they sat us 1 hour early.. The server BOB in the Jolly Room was excellent. Very attentive and helpful. But the room was not as characteristic as the rest of the restaurant. No one seemed to know the ghost stories we had heard about the place. The she crab soup was great but one bowl had no crab pieces in it and the other bowl had lots of yummy big pieces. MY fried chicken with honey "sauce" was just fried with honey poured over it. TOOO Sweet and drenged in honey. The small scoop of sweet potatoes was also very sweet. My guy had the filet which turned out to look like 6 ozs.. a petite filet .and just a bit of mash potatoes.. Corn bread and biscuits were also served But biscuit was more like a sweet yeast roll. Gift shop was filled with lots of pirate stuff...Imagine that!!!! It was a beautiful night to be out so it was good.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 October 2023
- ArchieGlenmoore, Pennsylvania7,744 contributionsHistoric building and pirate references through the buildingDefinitely need reservations at this location, it gets really busy. They have a southern buffet for lunch. We ordered off the menu fish with a Creole sauce, burger, blackened chicken. We enjoyed their drinks. There is gift shop upstairs to browse. It was pouring outside so we took some time to browse. The building looks really old. There are some pirate references around.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 December 2023
- ANewYorkerNew York City, New York196 contributionsDaunte was excellentThe hostess was not very welcoming. Walked in for lunch closer to 2pm. Placed felt like closing and preparing for dinner. I tried the buffet and the food was good. Wish I had gone for dinner to experience what I came for (the fried chicken). Fried green tomatoes were ok (I had better elsewhere). The drinks were delicious. I loved the rum. My server Daunte made the entire experience great. He was warm, attentive with a great balance between friendly and professional. I liked how he would personalize the experience with everyone in the room. I definitely have to go back.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 28 February 2024
- Discover669107311841 contributionSavannah Pirate HouseWe had a great time visiting the Pirate House. We had stopped in for appetizers and a quick refreshment. Our server, McGiver, was very personable and attentive. While there we got to check out the historic building. If you visit Savannah you need to check this place out!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 March 2024

- NorthStar21571923 contributionsExcellent dinnerHusband had the grouper dinner & I had the fried shrimp. Both were very delicious . Had the peach cobbler for dessert . All I can say about that is WOW. Our server did a great job of explaining menu items. Walked around restaurant after dinner looking at all historical pictures on the walls . Upstairs has a huge gift shop with numerous Tshirts & pirate themed gifts.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 April 2024
- Jennifer H.Brunswick, Georgia88 contributionsTourist trap, not worth itFood was barely warm (probably because the restaurant was freezing). Tables were too close together, making it difficult for the wait staff. The chair seat was so close to the bottom of the table that it was hard to move. The gift shop sold the same cheesy crap as every other gift shop. The 10 minute "tour" was really just some lady dressed as a pirate telling corny dad jokes.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 April 2024
- Teresa LBryson City, North Carolina19 contributionsFun to visit and the food is goodGood food, good service. This is our favorite place to eat when in Savannah. Grandson loves the filet mignon here. I've eaten so many different things that I can't pick a specific one to choose from that I like best. Entire family loves this place.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 July 2024
- Angie SBenton, Tennessee149 contributionsGreat place with cool decorWe ate supper here and we were able to walk in without reservations. My husband had the Jumbo Lump Crab and Broiled Shrimp and I had the Low Country Santa Fe Pasta. They bring you honey biscuits and cornmeal muffins with butter and orange marmalade to enjoy while you wait on your meal. The biscuits are so good and will just melt in your mouth. Both dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and filling. The decor was cool too. Skylar waited on us and she was amazing.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 July 2024

We were excited about this restaurant as we enjoy a fun themed restaurant on vacation. This place is not worth it. Maybe it was at one point, but we would not return. We made a reservation and could only get 3:30, and this was three days in advance. 3:30 is after the lunch buffet closes but before the dinner menu begins. We opted to wait on the dinner menu. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. The food was just not very good. For the price you can eat at local, creative spots with fresh, new menu items. We got the world famous pecan chicken and it was barely warm. The green beans were ok but in an unneeded sauce. The sweet potatoes tasted off, and I’m a big sweet potato fan. I don’t know if we just got old buffet portions or what, but nothing on the plate was hot. My husband got the fried shrimp, and it was just ok. The portions are large enough to share. Our youngest loved her meal, and we joked that we should have all gotten her choice - “the healthy buccaneer”. It was grilled chicken and a nice salad. She also loved the kids menu that doubled as a hat. The table gets free biscuits, corn muffins with butter and marmalade. They were also cold. Just got good and we wanted to love it.

I had really enjoyed coming here many years ago and was looking forward to taking my husband here. However, our first impression was terrible! As we arrived on time for our reservation, our friendly greetings and smiles were met with immediate rude hostility from the hostess, who acted as though we were a nuisance for having come in for dinner. When it came time to seat us a few minutes later, irritated she began yelling out our name in rapid-fire succession, over and over on the microphone, even though we were standing right in the waiting area and hastened to her quickly. This level of discourteous, gruff behavior is so unusual for the warm welcoming culture here in Savannah that we were stunned. As she seated us, she threw the menus on the tables while stating her name and quickly walking away. I wish I could say the evening improved from there but the drinks were bland, and mostly juice; and sadly, my husband contracted a food-borne illness from his dinner of crab and became desperately ill shortly after walking out of the restaurant. This ruined our plans and our visit. Such a disappointment. The highlight of the evening was our server who could not have been nicer.

Okay, so it's a bit gimicky, but the food was excellent and the service was great (Thanks Tom). We were looking for some good southern fried chicken and we found it. I tried to order the fried chicken with the honey-pecan sauce on the side but our waiter Tom would not allow it. He told me that to have the full experience I need to let them drizzle the sauce on the chicken. Oh man, was he ever right. It was delicious. The ribs were really great too, cooked perfectly and dripping with BBQ sauce. The She Crab Soup was also quite tasty. We had a great meal there and highly recommend this place.

We made a reservation ( the restaurant had just reopened after being closed due to pandemic). Food excellent, staff excellent. Tables 6 feet apart from each other. Staff wore masks correctly and stood at a distance while taking orders. It is clear staff working harder then ever with current challenges. Tip these people well!

Food here is ok, nothing special. We went here as a large group bus tour and were seated in a small room away from regular diners. We had 40 people and were very very crowded in. Difficult to get around to the small buffet table. Food was tepid and refilling took some time. Servers trying to keep glasses of tea full had a tough time getting around. Maybe food would be better if you are an individual diner.

Had dinner tonight. We are a family of 5.
Ordered the Low Country spring rolls. Delicious. Everyone, including our picky eater, loved them.
Biscuits delish too. Corn bread a bit too crumbly for me but tasty. Nothing a little extra bitter didn’t cure:).
Hubby had the filet mignon— tender and cooked to just the right temperature. He loved it. He gives it a 5 out of 5.
I ordered fresh catch. Halibut. With grits and broccolini. Tasty but not as good as I hoped. Give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Terry, our server, was wonderful. Made the night so pleasant!
Kids has basic kids food and liked all. Think they were all full from the delicious mocktails:).

I loved the stories of the Pirates house as well as the cheesy decor and wandering wench...but the food was EXCELLENT. I had the peach glazed salmon and it was cooked PERFECT and paired with sweet potatos and broccolini and I wouldnt change a single thing about any of it..even the salad impressed me. The drinks were perfectly poured and our waiter was endearing and friendly. I only wish we could have wandered through all the rooms to see the oldest part of the place.

This is a must any time I visit Savannah. The food is delicious and we learn something new about the history each time! Our server told us about her ghostly experiences - but don't worry, apparently the ghosts are more rowdy when patrons aren't around and it's more quiet. My husband got the ribeye and said it was in the top 5 steaks he's ever had at a restaurant!

In addition to being a popular restaurant, the Pirate’s House has a fascinating history. A very old, historic building on the riverfront, there is a tunnel you can view from above that was used to actually transport patrons that had too much to drink to a boat on the river. When they woke up they were out to sea, unwilling workers of the captain! The honey pecan fried chicken is a favorite. Highly recommend!!

Are there many gluten-free options? (We have a family member with Celiac Disease.)

Is it possible to take a tour of the building without eating at the restaurant? Willing to pay, just don't want to eat here.
Written 10 March 2018
We have never asked to take a tour so we do not know. Didn't know that was an option.

What's the dress code for dinner?
Written 23 July 2015
There wasn't a dress code that I am aware of. We had summer clothes on. I did have a skirt on everyone else was wearing shorts but it can defiantly be a romantic dressy date if you go at night. Hope I helped.
