After passing by the museum on almost a daily basis, I finally made it inside. The current special exhibit was a sobering history of the town of Auschwitz, or in Polish Oświęcim, from medieval times to the post WW 2 years. Other exhibits included the Voices of Lombard Street which took me back to stories I heard from relatives about... More

This is a small museum with nice dioramas and photos explaining an important aspect of immigrant history in Baltimore. Look for the special exhibits which are often particularly interesting and educational. The gift store has a nice selection of things outside of the usual museum gift shop offerings.

Visited with a group of friends, Wow!! A great place to really get an understanding of historic Baltimore from the perspective of the Jewish community. The museum has exhibit space and the third oldest synagogue in the United States, The exhibits are well-crafted with lots of useful information and even input from local residents past and present. If you like... More

This museum was highly recommended and I enjoyed it tremendously. Tells the delightful story of the Jews of Baltimore. I saw the exhibit on Lombard Street which was done very well. Excellent book and gift shop.

what a wonderful museum with rotating exhibits in downtown Baltimore(visit the Aquarium also nearby)..with excellent docent Ms.Davis who describes and discusses during tour of the 2 synagogues adjacent to the museum and gift shop. A Must See Museum....you don't have to fly to Europe ...it's so close.. Will definitely return for upcoming exhibits.. Drs. Margaret and Mark

A lovely museum that showcases not just local history but special exhibits (like Jews and Medicine) with a local flare. Do not miss the opportunity to check out the two historical synagogues (the tours are 3 times daily). They are beautiful and the tour is very meaningful.

This is not the largest Jewish museum we have been to, but it was one of the best. The two excellent exhibits were very well done, with wonderful artifacts as well as really good explanations of what we were seeing. The icing on the cake was the Synagogue tour-especially the Synagogue with the brilliant White Moorish ark. Wow! Barbara? the... More

Our group of 10 from NJ planned this trip a while back. We met our guide, he was wonderful. We toured by ourselves the two special exhibits (Voices of Lombard Street and Jews in Medicine). Wish I had more time to read everything. Thought it was well presented. Enjoyed both temple visits and learning about each one. Beautiful gift shop,... More

This thoughtful museum has two exhibits that should fascinate all Americans. "Voices of Lombard Street" tells the story of waves of immigrants, Italian as well as Jewish, willing to work ahead to improve their lot in life. "Beyond Chicken Soup" is a fascinating look at the interconnection of the Jews and medicine since the turn of the 20th century. At... More
