This is the oldest Washington Monument in the country. The Mount Vernon area of Baltimore once housed the wealthy of the city. It is still beautiful and probably expensive. The row houses are enormous and you can tour the Engineers Club and get an idea of how large these houses were. The club is actually two of them who belonged... More

Surrendering his commission atop the monument, George Washington can see all of Baltimore and now so can YOU. When you're finished with the touristy attractions at the harbor, walk less than 1 mile up Charles Street and then another 227 steps to the top of the country's FIRST Washington Monument. You'll have done something exciting that many other tourists don't... More

Driving by one day I noticed it was opened and I had a little bit of time before my next work stop, so I stopped in and went to the top. Wow what a fun experience!

If you are up for 200+ steps to top of the monument, I would recommend a visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The exhibits are interesting and the view at the top very nice.

It is quite narrow. Hard to pass people, that is why they limit the number of people climbing the stairs at the... More

I went here by myself first and enjoyed the journey up the curvy, stone steps to the top. The views are refreshingly different from looking at the city on from the ground. I took my partner up here as one part of celebrating our anniversary a month or so later. She was skeptical at first because she didn't think it... More

One of the most elegant urban spaces in the USA. On a nice day, check out all 4 parks surrounding the monument and decide which one you like best.

Climbed to the top during Baltimore's Dollar or Less Day. A lot of fun and a fantastic view of the city!

It was misty and rainy but had a great time walking the area of town. Beautiful old town homes all around and the Basilica was not far away
