I have been reading all the Debbie-downer reviews on the Maryland Zoo, and I have to say I had a great experience. It was the perfect size for a day trip. My wife, 7yo son and I went on a Sunday afternoon. Parking was very convenient, and I found that the admission fee was fair. The penguin exhibit was excellent,... More

Granddaughter 3rd birthday was celebrated at Maryland Zoo. Very family friendly. We didn't know we could bring water in, or we would have. Very hot day. Water $2.50. Just my husband and I, but for family it gets expensive. In middle of city, but many trees for shade. Very nice day. Easy to find.

I visited this zoo today and was a little nervous when I didn't see a lot of cars or people. My fears were unfounded as this zoo was great. So many amazing animals and I love the way the park is set up. Many of the exhibits contained multiple animals as if they were in their natural setting (rhinos, zebras,... More

We had so much fun at this zoo! The new penguin exhibit is awesome. The section dedicated to Maryland wildlife is really nice. The loop of African animals is a great walk with nice exhibits. I appreciated all of the volunteers in red shirts that were stationed at exhibits to give information on the animals. They also have a barnyard... More

Really enjoyed the zoo, lots to see and do. The only downside was that there wasn't much information around the animals, so you didn't know how old they were/names/their history etc which would have been nice. TIP: make sure you get to the elephant bath from 11.30-12.30 every day; i could have listened to the keeper talk all day -... More

I am a native of Baltimore and recall a time when this zoo was thriving and had every kind of animal you could imagine and the people at the entry window were excited to see you. Well, all good things must come to an end. I am an active military member and tried to obtain the military discount that is... More

Visited today with my 15 year old daughter on our way to the Inner Harbor. Was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't crowded and was shaded in areas to escape the 90 degree heat. We got close to the giraffe and my daughter actually got to feed one. One of the chimps was resting right up at the glass and we... More

We went on a very hot Saturday, but the zoo wasn't as crowded as I thought it might be, and should be. The place is arranged nicely, and has some unusual animals. I really enjoyed the openness of the animal areas, which allowed some fine photographic opportunities. There are also some animals I'd never heard of, and birds of wondrous... More

When you pay and enter the Zoo grounds, you can take the tram on a four minute ride to where the exhibits start, or you can walk for eight minutes (mostly downhill) through a nice shaded section. If the Tram is not there, or the line looks too long, I would recommend walking to the exhibits and taking the tram... More
