We found this to be a very peaceful place to camp. The scenery is beautiful as it sits in a canyon surrounded by hills. Has large campsites, some with full hookups, and many hiking trails around the park. We enjoyed the songs of the birds in the evenings as we sat outside. They also have a bird feeding station that... Nice RV and tent camping areas. RV sites are full hookup pull-through or 30amp and water back-in. Paved roads throughout the park. Some trees, where ever Mother Nature happened to plant them. Layout is somewhat limited due to being in a canyon. Nice restrooms and showers. Great staff, wildlife, hiking trails, paved roads to scenic overlooks. Another park that owes... More

We traveled here by RV and camped in their park. Nice spots with space between RV's Nice scenic drive within the park but we could only make it half way up driving the RV. We visited the lodge there, sat on their patio which is very peaceful. It is a short distance to the McDonald Observatory and well worth the... More

We took the Indian Lodge tour after camping and we were pleased with both. There was also nice wildlife viewing and a scenic drive. The tour was more a presentation on the CCC by Volunteer Gerry. The kitchen was not open due to electrical problems so the staff joined the tour - thanks to Karen the Superintendent as this was... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Davis Mtns. SP. We planned to spend a long weekend, and ended up staying a week. We went to the bird blinds at least once each day, and attended many of the excellent programs, including ranger-guided hikes and evening talks. We were there in July, when it gets a little toasty in the late... More

Ft. Davis is very rustic yet scenic. This park is rustic but some spots do have sewer, 30/50 amp service. not all spaces have shade and can be uncomfortable. Is a quiet, well maintained, and park ranger is attentive. As with many parks that are in a hilly or mountainous area, your space will be as level as possible, some... More

Really beautiful! Followed the map while in our jeep and even decided to hike around for quite some time. Saw some neat rock formations and the trails were marked in most places! Would love to go back and camp!

This is a very beautiful park even if it did get down to 20 degrees last night. There are two bird watching stations that guarantee you to see birds everyday. Of course it depends on the time of year as to which birds you will see. We chose full hook ups for $25 a night. The lodge is available to... More

This is such an incredible site. Looking at it I could see a collection of fingers folding together like a window curtain. You just have to see it.

I lived in Texas for most of my life before moving overseas. I came here to West Texas for my first time and was taken away by the novelty (to me, of course) of mountains in Texas. And this park offers a nice area to get away and go for a hike. Definitely worth it.
