This place is on a street corner, grassy area. It certainly isn't a destination or worth making it a point of interest. If you come across it while walking the streets of Astoria, fine. Otherwise, don't waste your time. Really cheesy

I read the book "Astoria" about John Jacob Astor's sponsored expedition to establish the earliest settlement on the west coast. Wanted to see the original site. Not much left of it, but I enjoyed what they had.

Fort Clatsop is a great place for folks to learn about history of the Pacific Northwest and Sacajawea and Lewis and Clark.

Historical representation of original fort. Good to put on your "places to visit list" while in town.

We went there in January, quite off season, yet the staff was in historically accurate costumes and in character. And it was cold! We enjoyed viewing the info inside the building and learning more about Lewis & Clark when they finally reached the Pacific ocean....More

this is the origional site of Fort Astoria. It provides a little perspective as to where the origional was located. It has a small reproduction and a mural. Not much to see.

In town you can stop and see the recreation of the fort and learn about the area as an out post on the frontier.

Back of the bar. Fort built on a little street corner. An unexpected treat to see. Check the survey lines painted on the ground trying to pinpoint the true location. Nice rainy day visit.

It's always nice to take in our history and learn even when you're on vacation. This tour doesn't take to long and is interesting. The park rangers are very knowledgeable
