This was our favorite history museum in Oregon (along with Fort Clatsop.) Comprehensive displays of Native Americans, pioneers, sailing, fur trade, immigrants, prominent businessmen, gaming, etc. I'd read "Astoria" about John Jacob Astor's Expedition (highly recommend it) and was glad to see interesting information about...More

You can learn so much from the Heritage Museum! I could have spent hours in here. Also they let you roll the wheel on the 100 year old roulette table so it's worth it just for that alone. Super fun, super interesting, really helpful staff!

A nice place to start a visit to Astoria. There's a lot to tell and only a limited space, but it's well used. A bit of everything.

I enjoyed learning more about the early people of this area, and the accompanying displays were very good. It's worth a stop for a look the variety of things they have about the Astoria area.

Another place in town that just had so much info about the town and it's people. There is some very rich history and you can tell the town is very proud of it.

Doesn't pull any punches regarding the rough and tumble of Astoria when it was major fishing and canning town back in the day. Brothels, gambling and hard drinking pretty much defined the town from the 1870s to @1950. WELL WORTH THE TIME TO VISIT.

Hey, I didn't expect to stay here over an hour, but we did. The rich and exciting history of the many nationalities of settlers were explained in-depth. But, it seemed that much of it was in transition, or that the electronic displays for the most...More
