The Oregon side of the bridge (near Astoria) rises up to just under 200 feet to allow ocean liners to pass but the rest of the bridge is only about 20 feet from the mighty Columbia. The bridge carries US 101 over the Columbia river,...More

Great walk underneath. We did it in the evening and first thing in the morning. Saw a deer this morning drinking in the river. Nice wildlife encounter. Liked seeing the structure. There is a Maritime Memorial right under the bridge! Well done!

Very cool, such a treat to drive across this famous bridge, we learned more about the history of this bridge from the Astoria Trolley volunteers.

We accidentally made a wrong turn and got onto this bridge, but were glad we took a drive on it. It is the longest continuous truss bridge in the United States. It runs from Astoria, OR over to Meger, WA.

A truly great experience if you are only used to short bridges. A long low run near the water and a steep climb to the high point at the southern edge. A wonderful experience.

At just over 4 miles, it was the longest steel cantilever through truss bridge in the world when built in 1966. It connects Washington and Oregon as it spans the Columbia River. At 200 feet high it allows ocean going freighters/tankers to pass underneath. Best...More
