If you can get over the fact that these animals are caged and exposed for your enjoyment, you'll appreciate this zoo and the things they do for the animals. It has a great variety of animals, split into different regions of the world, and they also have a good botanical variety, so it is a pleasure to walk about and... More

So just going in tot he lion loop after entering, was a little disappointed because one of the exhibits curved around behind a bunch of bamboo, making the animals difficult to see. However, after continuing on, enjoyed the visit very much. We took our time (about 3 hrs.) to make sure that we enjoyed all the animals. There are lots... More

Jax Zoo is one of the best zoological gardens in the southeast US. Beginning at the entrance, the authentic African reed roofs built by African experts on the zoo buildings beckon the visitor to a unique experience that includes elephants, jaguars and birds of all kinds that you can feed on the large aviary. Plan to visit with the whole... More

This is a "Must Do" attraction for locals and visitors to Jacksonville. There is a picnic area outside of the Zoo, so you can pack a lunch if the weather is nice. The side walks are paved and wide through out the zoo. There is a water park and petting area for the wee ones. Plus, a train for anyone... More

Family of four were in Jacksonville for 3 days and went to the zoo one morning. Great variety of animals and reptiles. The staff was overall friendly and informative. The layout was good and for the most part the animal enclosures seemed updated and interesting. The zoo was decorated for the holidays and although we were there in the day... More

Very nice zoo. Many animals to see and the shows were interesting to watch. This was a nice way to spend the day.

I enjoy bringing my son to see the animals especially when he gets to feed the giraffes. He didn't get to feed them this visit but they're always his favorite to watch. I was happy to see they are adding a manatee critical care center as an exhibit. The stingrays are a nice little attraction, my 1 year old enjoyed... More

This is truly an awesome zoo! The enclosures and foliage layout hide the barriers and walls protecting you and the animals. The new tiger exhibit is unique with overhead tunnels and towers the cats can walk about. I liked how the majority of animals could be seen from a stroller as well.

I visited the Zoo today which I do most years I visit Florida. Every year there are improvements. This is one of the best US Zoos even though it is not a large zoo. If I lived locally, I'd volunteer here. The keeper talks are informative and the animals are well cared for. The tiger exhibit is excellent, especially when... More

We have visited all the big zoos in Florida and this one outshines the rest for me. I found all the animals in huge enclosures with a great deal of freedom. I saw no pacing or going in circles as is common in other Zoos. The public is high above most enclosures and it is easy to get good photos.... More
