Kids had a great time looking for shells (which were everywhere). Even saw some dolphins off the coast. Parking is really everywhere on the streets so easily accessible.

the beach is wonderful as beaches go, long and fine sand a pleasure to walk down. there are ameneties are at nearly every store front and plenty of free parking.

I only have a couple hours this Friday afternoon. Am i crazy to try to drive to hannah park then back to hotel in jax around 6ish? How bad is traffic there? How long realistically will it take me at 6 or 7.

Don't do it. From downtown Jacksonville to Hannah Park on a Friday afternoon will take two hours, if you know where you're going. It will even be difficult to go straight to Atlantic Beach at the foot of Atlantic Boulevard... More
