This route through Quemado was a great alternative to Highway 40. We used La Ventana as a spot to stretch our legs and use the only bathroom for many miles. Unfortunately, it is a pit toilet that was very stinky, but I was grateful for...More

The path is a very easy, perhaps 150 yard walk from the parking lot, about 1/3 of which is actually paved. The rest is a good packed trail with a slight rise in elevation. A hat and sunscreen are both good ideas for this site,...More

This is an easy walk from the parking area with sidewalks most of the way. It is a natural beauty to see.

It was a quick stop at a beautiful site. If you're a photographer plan to go in the afternoon, I had difficulty getting a good shot in late morning.

There is only a short hike here - 1/4 mile each way, to the arch, but it's well worth the stop. Restroom facilities also available here.

Take exit 89 off rt 40 and follow signs for El Malpais down 117. It's about 12 miles, so a short detour to see an interesting natural site. You can see it from the parking lot, but a short walk will get you even closer.

Just a short drive south of grant off of interstate 40. The views remind me of the scene in "Jason and the argonauts" were Poseidon appears amid the cliffs. If you travel even further from the bend where la ventana natural arch is located they...More

I expected something dramatic and spectacular, but was sorely disappointed. Okay but nothing really out of the ordinary

Not sure how large your large rv is. The parking was open and accessible and could accommodate an 7 person rental type rv. It was also not very busy so you may just be able to park on the side.
