Just a short drive south of grant off of interstate 40. The views remind me of the scene in "Jason and the argonauts" were Poseidon appears amid the cliffs. If you travel even further from the bend where la ventana natural arch is located they are one cliff after another. A very surreal scene. La ventana is of good size,... More

I expected something dramatic and spectacular, but was sorely disappointed. Okay but nothing really out of the ordinary

Located in the El Malpais National Conservation Area (see my review titled Drive Thru El Malpais) is this beautiful arch. Just off the roadway the arch can be viewed from your vehicle in the parking area. A short hike will get you up close. This entire area has lots to offer for those seeking natural beauty & outdoor backcountry activities.

Amazing Natural Feature - just wish we had been able to hike up to the Arch itself. Bring lots of water!

I visited the El Malpais area and was not ready for yet another hike. I was delighted that the trip to see this beautiful site was a short walk, and you can also just stay in the car...visible even from the highway. New Mexico offers so much!

You will find many places to stop and take photos on your way to see the La Ventana Natural Arch. I believe the visit and drive through the park was more fascinating than the arch itself. But, see the arch. You can take a very short walk (not even a hike) to the base of the arch - it is... More

It reminded me of the natural bridges park. I love the sandstone natural bridges and this one is very accessible to older visitors and your families.

The weather was getting hostile so we didn't hike. We stopped to take pictures. The arch looked really close from the road to hike. We planned to come back the next day for this, but it rained as well.

The arch is not all that big, but it is easily accessible. We saw herds of mule deer and a fantastic sunset on the road.
