We stopped here to meet up with our tour guide. Very nice with good exhibits that were free. Some parts did require a ticket (Diorama and museum). This is an excellent starting point for touring the battlefield.

This is the relatively new (2008ish) visitors center, and it's a nice place to begin a tour of the battlefield. It's where you'll meet your guide if you have reserved one; there's a large book store, a cafe, a museum, and displays of artifacts throughout...More

Was here many years ago and the new visitors center is very nice do not get me wrong. However we felt it almost to commercialized the experience as the building is huge with a very large gift shop. Would probably stop again if around as...More

The museum is very extensive with quite a collection of civil war items ranging from medical, weapons, artifacts for daily use. In order to view everything in the museum you will need at least 2 hours or more. Admission for museum only was 9 dollars...More

I didn't really pay to do the whole museum, but it has a large variety of books in the gift shop for those interested in reading.

I highly recommend visiting the museum. They have a film and cyclorama that is a must do. The people at the information desk are very knowledgeable. A great starting point for any trip to Gettysburg.

I went to Gettysburg in the late 90s. The cyclorama was more a joke than a real experience. We went today with the kids and the film then followers by the cyclorama experience was great. The renovation was beautiful. We went to the museum as...More

We only had 24 hours to visit Gettysburg and ran in to the visitor center right before closing. The info desk/rangers were so helpful and suggested 2-3 things to see/do since I had kids ages 6 and 11 (wasn't sure how "in to it" the...More

Bring a sweater if you get chilled easily - the a/c temp is pretty cool in the museum, and I was wishing I had a real warm sweater at the time. Other than that, the place is great! Loved the gift shop, too.
