Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As you explore the vibrant waterfront scene, be sure to stop for a quiet moment to reflect at the impressive Memorial, modeled on the wall in Washington & dedicated to Vietnamese veterans of the Viet Nam War, who fought for freedom & should not be forgotten.

This memorial is laid out beautifully and quite a tribute to those who lost their lives during the Viet Nam war. The landscaping around the monuments is exceptional. Definitely take a few minutes to view in you are in the are.

One of the better Vietnam Veteran's Memorials in the country. Well thought and well maintained. The names of the service members from Philadelphia are carved into the walls. It is well lit at night so an evening visit is doable.

We happened to stumble of this memorial. It was beautiful! Although part of it was roped off and we couldn't see it. I think it is wonderful that Philadelphia has this memorial. A tour guide stated to is that inside one of the large stones is a copy of the names of the soldiers on the memorial in Washington D.C..

I was taking a walk along the waterfront and came up the Vietnam Memorial. I had not idea Philadelphia had its own memorial. It is a beautiful tribute to all who served, and a wonderful addition to the waterfront. Well done Philadelphia!

I’ve had the good fortune to visit Washington, DC’s iconic Vietnam War Veterans Memorial, and others scattered around the country. Born in 1952, I was on the cusp of being drafted, but an older sibling was. Those were turbulent years, with much social discord. When veterans returned, there was no hero welcome. It is nice to see—belatedly—these valiant soldiers who were drafted into military service honored. Those soldiers did not want to go, but were forced into defending what politicians mistakenly told them was American freedom. A beautiful passage is carved in stone: "For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know."

During my first Philly visit, I stayed at Hilton Penn’s Landing (highly recommended). The concierge informed me of this memorial, and the adjacent Korea Veterans Memorial, both less than a block for the Hilton. The accompanying photos fail to capture the beauty of this memorial. Etched into the black granite are figures depicting combat soldiers. The names of Philadelphia soldiers who did not return are etched into the cold stone.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial is located at Spruce Street (267/973-0600, www.pvvm.org)

I was walking toward the river in my typical wondering manner and stumbled upon this memorial. My uncle fought in Vietnam and I am a veteran myself. Quite touching. Nice surprise.

The Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial is actually a series of monuments and plaques arranged in a small park. It is pretty standard as memorials like this go, but it does a good job of explaining the war and the sacrifices it is honoring.
