Woodmere is not your typical art museum because it focuses on exhibiting the creative work produced exclusively by Philadelphia artists. By doing so, the museum not only tells the stories of these very talented individuals is also the history of Philadelphia. The museum has new ongoing, rotating exhibitions almost monthly giving the art loving community a chance to view new... More

We visited Woodmere to see the special exhibition of John Mosley photography which was fascinating. Through his great photos we learned a lot about Philadelphia and the Philadelphia African American community the 1940's to 1960's. We also viewed another fascinating exhibit showing "The Night Before Christmas " through various paintings a.nd other art forms. While these are temporary exhibits, it... More

This museum hardly looks like a museum. The museum is small but has a lot to offer. It's a nice place to go if you have an hour to spare. The museum has a multitude of exhibits. My favorite is a gallery walk at the top of a room. I highly recommend visiting the Woodmere Art Museum.

It was so wonderful to see so many local artists of all ages. All the artists were either from Philadelphia or trained in the area. The building itself was wonderful and we also went on a Sunday which had free admission. This museum combined with taking a walk on Germantown Ave in Chestnut hill made a very pleasant day.

I am a life long resident of Philadelphia and thought I had seen most of this city's best attractions. However, I had never visited the Woodmere Art Museum until just last week. I had passed it many times but never stopped to see it. From the road it looks like an old mansion set back on a grassy lawn. This... More

We have lived in the area for years and finally visited. Allow an hour or two for your visit. The museum if free on Sundays so leave a donation at the door. Exhibits range from American landscapes to student art.

The Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia presents the works of artists of the Philadelphia region. While the museum is not huge, the punch it packs definitely is! The building itself is lovely, the installations always allow for leisurely contemplation of each piece of art. The exhibits are all timely and well explained. There is a wonderful permanent collection but there... More

Woodmere Art Museum is a wonderful museum that tells the story of Philly's artists and their art. Currently Biblical Art is displayed in honor of the Pope's visit to Philadelphia. Also on exhibit are works by Raymond Theel, who painted impressionistic landscapes of Jarretown, PA, his hometown. They really support children and have a room where their art is displayed... More

Lovely museum that exhibits local artists from Philadelphia on a rotating basis. On Friday nights, catch a jazz concert surrounded by art. Classical Sundays offers classical music concerts. Great giftshop, not to be missed! Lots of free parking and free Sunday admission.
