Mostly independent films made on budgets. ( Although almost no movies that get to these "art house" theaters are made on a shoe string.) But here is a wonderful chance to see movies you would otherwise miss if you just went to the big theaters. Ritz at the Bourse is great as well and at that theater they are currently... More

Smaller venue. Comfy seats. Clean. With a variety of interesting movies. Lots if good food in neighborhood day or evening. Park next door or take public transportation.

Best theaters for indies, foreign, and art films. The other two are the Ritz 5 and the Ritz at the Bourse.

Ok. Movie going is a personal thing. 1. I prefer art house movies 2. I avoid the gigantic mall movie theaters 3. Movies here are reasonably priced, less than giant chain theaters 4. Snacks reasonably priced. 5. Clientele better behaved 6. I will drive into the city to see movies I want to see, so it is good. I pick... More

One of the few places in Philadelphia that show Independent and art films. It's a treasure in concept. In reality, films aside, theaters need to be refurbished and staff needs to care about its patrons. Last year they had a terrific globe Theater film series, but did nothing to promote it. Spoke to someone in London who send me postcards... More

When you don't celebrate Christmas, it leaves you out of the mainstream. So a movie and Chinese food are always a great bet! The Ritz East, which is part of the Landmark Theaters chain, is tucked away in Old City, and they have two spacious theaters inside. Today, both theaters were showing "Carol," which just opened. The snack bar is... More

The Ritz is a treat for the eyes and ears. We managed to see a documentary "Listen To Me" a special on Marlon Brando; thoroughly enjoyed it; staff were excellent and the theater well air-conditioned! Price was $ 7.50

this venue is one of 3 ritz Theaters in philly offering non- deafening, non- chain saw films on the comedy, artistic or thoughtful side. Films not often seen in mainstream chain theaters. Clean, comfortable seating. I am not a snob but am a fan of their films. Some a tad too artsy for me but check the reviews. Also good... More

Clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Watched Ex Machina and the crowd was a lot better in terms of theater etiquette. Small but worth the visit. Hoping for updates to seating, screen, and sound.
