Take a step back into Colonial history and tour this elegant Philadelphia mansion. This was the original home of the Coleman's; then it became home to the Loyalist and traitor Frank family. Josh, our guide, was so well-informed and articulate, that we came away with more than we ever expected. The mansion was painstakingly provided with period furnishings, pottery, Colonial... More

For its reputation and that of Fairmount Park, Woodford Mansion is located in an unsettling area that is largely slum-like for want of a better description. I walked in the wrong direction initially and it was very unsettling. I finally got to Woodford and had a personal tour (I was the only one there, so we didn't wait to start... More

A beutiful mansion with a lot of history. It's a guided tour and ours happen to be very knowledgeable. The admission price is 8$ per adult wich I found reasonable. We spend a lil over an hour here. You can take pictures inside wich for me is a plus.

This is a beautiful house furnished with many period pieces. It is the guide, Eric though who is worth his weight in gold. Knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about history, Eric kept us engaged throughout the tour and I was shocked to return to my car at the end of the tour to find that I had spent upwards of three... We set our GPS to 33rd and Dauphin, parked free on the street, saw Fairmount park on our left, followed the signs and found this great Georgian summer house furnished in a rich collection of Queen Anne furniture, Delftware, art and other treasures. This was the summer house of Ben Franklin's best friend, an unassuming Quaker who did not take... More

We visited this historic home on Saturday1/23/15 and arrived at 3:30 pm. Since they close at 4:00, we were afraid that we might not be able to take the tour . . . but we were wrong. After ringing the bell, we were greeted by the tour guide who gave us a very informative tour that lasted almost an hour.... More

The GPS sent us to the wrong place but it we got directions from some baseball players & were very glad we did!! Our warm & friendly guide, Eric, is also the caretaker and his pride in the mansion & it's collection showed. He did not rush us- taking his time to fully explain the history of the home, it's... My GPS really didn't me to find this delightful old mansion, but after giving the house a call, the guide on duty was able to get me there in the poring rain. Once in the house, I was so happy I had found it. The house has been well maintained and they still had the place all decorated for Christmas.... More

Although this mansion is open throughout the year, I would suggest trying to visit during the holiday house tour which is generally held Thursday - Sunday, the first two weeks in December. There are six Fairmount Park mansions decorated by volunteer garden clubs, who do a beautiful job. Inside the house are informative guides who provide interesting history about the... More

With only one other review for Woodford Mansion, we didn't really know what to expect... but we were thrilled with what we found! We were the only ones there (on my Birthday) and the guide made it a very personal experience, showing us "behind the scenes" areas not usually part of the tour and focusing on areas of the homes...
