Minutes from Center City, Fort Mifflin is one of the country's only...

Minutes from Center City, Fort Mifflin is one of the country's only completely intact Revolutionary War battlefields. Site of the greatest bombardment of the American Revolution, the Fort was reconstructed beginning in the late 18th century and in use until decommissioning in 1954. Fort Mifflin answered every call to service: garrisoned for the War of 1812, a federal prison during the Civil War and a munitions depot in the 20th century.

Living history events including tactical battle demonstrations and interactive activities bring the Fort's incredible term of service to life.

Riverfront picnic area, nature trail. Scout camping, paranormal investigations and programs, school and group tours year-round!

Open to the General Public March 1 through December 15 Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 AM till 4 PM. Mondays and Tuesdays and the rest of the year by chance or appointment - give us a call at 215-685-4167 prior to your visit during that time.

I took the kids here for a weekend trip. The site was great and def. worth your time. They give tours and explain in detail what the site was used for.

Off the beaten path outside the city. A little run down but don't let this stop you. I've been to other forts such as this with a tenth of the access. You are free to roam and explore. Lots of history here and who knows, without the bravery and fortitude of the men in 1777 we might be singing God... More

A probably much overlooked historical site within a few minutes drive of the Philadelphia International Airport. The mostly 19th century buildings are painfully run-down and mostly inaccessible. But the overall experience was worth the trip. Keep an eye out for ghosts. Recommended.

My 10 year old son and I visited on a Thursday and the place was empty and we had the fort mostly to ourselves. Much of it is unrestored and we used a flashlight to explore the cast mates. There were no guides around but we were able to learn about the fort's history through signage and the map. We... More

While the fort is rich with history, it is known more for its ghost investigations. It is great place to bring kids of all ages for a brief glimpse of the past and a short history lesson. The grounds are just enough to keep the kids interested. If you are a beginner in the field of ghost hunting, this is... More

With an interest in the paranormal and history Fort Mifflin has been on my list as one of the top places I wished to visit. We visited on a Thursday about midday. The staff was excellent and very courteous. We lucked out and had the whole fort to ourselves that day. I absolutely loved exploring the casemates and the grounds... More

Fort Mifflin is hidden outside of other major historical spots. Right next to the airport. It's usually not crowded but great to check out. So much history in this little spot. Definitely check out the underground spots. I believe they offer ghost hunts but I'm not really into that. I think out of all the sites in Philadelphia definitely one... More

this is a great place to investigation. If you have a chance I recommend that you come here. This is the 2nd time I been here and it doesn't disappoint me There are 10 people in my group and we had the whole fort to our self. And the price is reasonable.

Adult children from out of town were visiting and wanted to do something interesting. I picked Fort Mifflin. There was hesitancy about going but everyone enjoyed the experience. We went on a week day in April so not a lot of others, but maybe 20 other people, were there. The fort had an interesting history, great architecture and a nice... More

You are literally on your own. There are little or no form of audio tour, placards or signs. Artifacts are rare and lighting is poor. This is a very cool place, but lacks severely as a tourist spot.
