Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a large multi part sculpture memorializing George Washington. He is astride a horse, below him are scene from his life and below that are allegorical human figures and plant sand animals.
It has a distinguished location on Ben Franklin Pkwy right in front of the famous steps in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum

The monument is located just inside the northwest edge of Eakins Oval, in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Rocky) steps. The bronze and granite sculpture features a uniformed George Washington mounted on a horse facing down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway towards Philadelphia City Hall. The face of the sculpture was made from an impression while the President was still alive. The lower level features Native Americans and native animals. Impressive.

They don't build em like this any more. Monumental statue with various animals gathered around Washington. Interesting cast of characters - particularly good for young kids. Enjoyed the creativity particularly the moose and the alligator !

Located in Eakins Oval, beautiful and huge statue of Washington on a horse.
Makes a much better picture than the insignificant Rocky statue in front.
Visited in June 2016.

A brilliant statue honoring President George Washington immediately in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It’s a large circle in the middle of several major roads yet safe and easy to enter
It offers a nice view snd several good photo opportunities of Philly
Go enjoy

Pretty cool statue, and I loved that it’s easy to get to! Found free parking right near it instead of laying the $15 that the guy harassed us to park and pay. Keep driving, you’ll find something better and be able to calmly come enjoy this.

We walked passed the Washington Monument on our way to the Art Museum. It's very large, but well kept and nice. It's a really pretty piece in a city full of beautiful art and architecture.

This is one impressive monument that consumes Eakins Oval—a traffic circle. It makes a beautiful background picture from the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum—up the 72 steps that “Rocky” ran.
Built in 1897 and moved to its present location in 1928. The uniformed George Washington actually faces towards Philadelphia City Hall. The face was actually made from a facial impression from our 1st President. The body, though, is of a Prussian General. Down by the base are sculptures of Native Americans and animals—the Moose is magnificent—to the United States.
Don’t miss the famous “Rocky Statue” on the right-side of the steps to the Museum. I thought it would be “hoaky,” but it is quite uplifting to have a photo there.
