Going into the Academy of Music feels like heading into an Edith Wharton novel. We went to see the Nutcracker there and sat in a box and felt like royals. Perfect views, beautiful sets and staging and so easy to get in, get out, get...More

We have been to the AOM many times and we never tire of our visits. We appreciate the decor and art exhibited. Make sure you look up! I will suggest that, if you are shorter than 5’5”, consider sitting further back so that you don’t...More

We subscribe to the Kimmel Center's Broadway series, and a good number of the shows are done at the Academy. We've been there many of times. The stage and some other parts of the theater were renovated not too along, but unfortunately, the cramped seats...More

Amazing staging, set design, lighting and imagery. Acting was really impressive and Capt Hook was hilarious. Adults may very well like it better than kids - it's that good!

What a gorgeous theatre! You have to be careful not to get a seat with abstracted view but other than that, not a bad seat even in the family circle section.

We recently visited this Philadelphia landmark to see a Broadway musical; we first visited many years ago to see The Nutcracker performed by the Pennsylvania Ballet. The Baroque-inspired architecture of this 19th-century opera house and the interior design of gold surfaces and red velvet and...More

We attended an author talk here. What a beautiful theater. Seating is comfortable as well. We aren't local, but if we were we would not hesitate to go back.

I was curious to see the interior of the Academy as it has undergone restoration over the years. It is a very old opera house and some seats are only 18 inches wide with 31 inches from back to the back of the row in...More

A wonderful experience at the Philadelphia opera festival. A family visit last year to this lovely city of excellent bookstores, art and science museums, and delicious meals had us eager to make another family visit for their production of the Magic Flute. The production itself...More

Most shows/theatres will open the front of house an hour before the performance that means the doors to the lobby. The doors to the auditorium open about 1/2 hour before the scheduled performance unless there are technical... More
