Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a must see. Generally, this is in many ways just an old church but when you walk-in, pay attention to the marble slabs inside the church. These are actual graves of church members. Ask one of the docents to tell the story of the lady who stayed single.

After walking over, I was disappointed to learn that we couldn't go inside without paying $5 per person. It was not a huge church and wouldn't have taken long to view. There was no guided tour that I was aware of...just 5 bucks to go in. We had done other things that were free guided tours in the city, so I wasn't about to pay $5/person and no tour.

It doesn't take too long to see this gem but it's well worth the $5 admission. Just don't be surprised when you don't find Franklin's grave, it's in the church's graveyard, not on site like several others that you'll see both inside & outside of the church.

This is a very simple church but rich in history. The church is open to the public to view, pray and join in worship. It's cool to think you can sit in the church our founding fathers attended 240+ years ago.

This old, historic church is worth a stop to sit the ancient pews and stew in the old history. Just a few blocks from a Independence Hall, do wander over and visit, it is unique.

This is a lovely church surrounded by a park and garden. It does cost to enter so I skipped it but just walking into the gift shop was worth it.

Not only is Christ Church beautiful, but it has so much history. It is free to go inside, just make sure you check the hours before you go. They still hold services here so just make sure they will be open for touring. They do have a box for donations before walking into the main area. There are two ladies who walk around and will give you a tour or answer any questions you may have. I think it's definitely worth a stop.

This church is a few blocks from the liberty bell and constitution hall. It is one of the oldest churches in the country and for all of George Washington's life was the tallest building he every saw. Several founding fathers worshiped here. The church is a working church and well preserved. It was an enjoyable spot but does not require a lot of time. There is a cute little gift shop inside.

They should keep it open. So cool that they buried parishioners right outside against the wall. Signers, too

On vacation in the Philadelphia area for a week for the Wawa Welcome America Festival which included pay-as-you-wish and free admissions to various attractions and museums, our first visit was a free admission to historic Christ Church.

We arrived about 10:00 AM. We were fortunate to get a parking space nearby.

We began outside on the grounds where there was a garden with beautiful flowers and shrubs. One grave in that area of a notable person was of Robert Morris, a signer of the Constitution of the United States.

A nearby historic sign stated that the church was first built in 1695.

Inside, we heard a youth choir perform.

From plaques and sources, we learned that over a dozen signers of the Declaration of Independence attended this church as did George Washington when he was in Philadelphia. And, although she was a Quaker, Betsy Ross also worshiped here. Signers who were interred at Christ Church Burial Grounds about two blocks away included Benjamin Franklin, Francis Hopkinson, George Ross, Dr. Benjamin Rush, and Joseph Hewes. Other notables included Civil War Major General George Cadwalader, Michael Hillegas, First Treasurer of the United States, and Commodore William Bainbridge, commander over Captain Isaac Hull on USS Constitution, a/k/a Old Ironsides during the War of 1812.

Christ Church’s bell from 1702 was on display.

We saw the baptismal font in which William Penn was baptized. It is still used

The British set the church on fire during the American Revolutionary War. In 1783, rebuilding began.

The church is well-preserved.

We also visited the gift shop. I got a refrigerator magnet and a booklet about the church. My friend got a plasticized placemat with all the presidents on it.

It was a meaningful experience for us to walk in the footsteps of important historical figures and see the church where they worshiped.

We rate Christ Church at 5.0 for its role in American history, as a fine example of Georgian architecture, and the magnificent Palladian window behind the altar area.
