We started taking pictures from a great distance away; while we could see it was huge, nothing quite prepares you for seeing those tiny specks on the side and then learning those are actually adventurous climbers! Don't miss walking all the way around. Near the back side, you can actually get quite close to it and see how treacherous it... More

Had a trip to the Devils Tower from Deadwood. It is such an awesome sight as you drive along the road getting nearer and nearer to it. We had a trek around the base of the tower, it is just over a mile but didn't seem that far as around each corner there was a different perspective of the area.... More

It is a lovely monument with a interesting legend. Nice paved walking path but too much incline if you are out of shape as I am! Nice gift shop with plenty to choose from. The staff at the park are all friendly. Beware of the prairie dogs they try to get you to ignore the signs & feed them.

Truly a wonderful experience as well as feeling. We all felt the magic the moment we arrived by automobile and that small part of me that's Native Indian said this place was special. Devil's Tower is wrongly named. There's nothing devilish about it except the stories. aka Bear Lodge, this place is magical especially at sunrise and sunset, both quite... More

This is one of the coolest sites I have visited. In some ways Devil's Tower is more impressive from a distance than it is from up close. Devil's Tower is only a couple hours from Mt. Rushmore/Crazy Horse and the drive through the Black Hills is really great. Devil's Tower should be part of a Black Hills trip. The ecosystems... More

This is a spectacular gift of nature. There is also much history of the Native Indians to be learned here. Any view of the tower is amazing. It is a short drive from the Black Hills but so worth. The prairie dog greeting committee makes the drive to the tower so much fun. They are such a treat to watch...antics... More

I have wanted to see this, our first National Monument, most of my life. It is not only gorgeous, it is a magical place. You can just feel the unreal great vibes this place puts out. I wish you could sleep at the base of it at night. No picture can do this place justice, you just have to see... More

This was our 2nd time visiting. Not as wonderful as the first. The weather was cloudy, foggy & rainy, so the Tower wasn't as nice as a sunny day. This is off the beaten path. You can take exit 154 or exit 185 off I - 90 to HWY 14/24. The Tower is visible from miles away. $10 to get... More

What an extraordinary thing - never seen anything like it - no matter where you see it from, or how many times you see it - it just captivates. Easy walks around the base of it, or you can ascend the rockfall area partway up. One of our favourite views was from the main road outside the entrance, looking across... More

We took a special trip to Devils Tower from Rapid City and it was definitely worth the drive. There is a circular route once you get close to that area and it's good to drive that because you go through some little cowboy towns on the way. Don't go in and come out the same way. Devils tower itself was... More
