Devil's Tower was an absolute remarkable rock formation. It appeared majestic as it towered over the earth's surface as if out of nowhere since the surrounding landscape was relatively flat. The tower soared high into the sky and could be seen from miles away as we approached. The highest point of Devil's Tower is 5,112 feet above sea level. My... More

I can understand why this is a sacred site. In peaceful quiet moments, magic can happen. This is beautiful with paved walking paths and plenty of photo opportunities. Abundant wildlife spotting.

Devils Tower is an amazing piece of nature - everything else in the area is relatively flat, and it towers above the landscape out of nowhere. There's a very nice hike on paved trails that you can take around the edge of the tower. Definitely stop and look at the prairie dogs on the drive into the park.

Arises out of no where. The colours and shape are fantastic. Don't miss the rock wall on the other side of the road either

I really enjoyed including Devil's Tower while exploring South Dakota's many historical and cultural sights. I enjoyed learning about its Indian lore and the hike around it was beautiful and easy. We spotted several daring climbers too. Pretty interesting. It was a beautiful day for us. Unfortunately for the next day's bus load of tourists, the mountain was topped in... More

The novelty of the seismic activity that cause this tower to appear is fascinating and provides an example of the power of seismic forces. The shape of the tower is unique and has given climbers an interesting challenge. There were a number of climbers making the ascent when were there and it gave us a perspective on the size of... After learning Devils Tower was only 100 miles plus, from Rapid City, SD, we decided to include it in our sightseeing. From Rapid City, the speed limit was mostly 80 mph so in less than two hours we were able to reach the monument, stopping in Bel Fourche, SD, Geo Center of the US, on the way. The Tower was... More

Once you enter the park you will see hundreds of prairie dogs. As you work your way up towards the tower you will see whitetail deer and Mule deer so be looking and have your camera ready. There is a picnic area and bathrooms when you arrive at the parking area.

We stopped by Devils Tower on the way from Mount Rushmore to Yellowstone. The tower is visible from the highway before you reach it and it dominates the landscape. There is a path that goes around the base of the tower and you get great views from all sides. Stop by if you're in the area.
