Was visiting Mount Rushmore and decided to visit Devils Tower, sort of a long drive through the back country of Wyoming. It cost us $15. The visitor center was small but had good information. Not very many people visiting but it was great. Hiked around the tower, trail is not maintained in Winter but enough people hike on it that... More

Thought this would be just a stop along the way. Wished we set aside 1/2 the day to visit this location. The trail around the tower was very nice and we would of loved to have taken the trail. The pictures don't do the location justice. Take at least 6 hours to check out all there is to see here.

I stopped by Devils Tower on a roadtrip leg from Grand Teton to Rapid City. In the middle of nowhere, the monolith tower rises above tacky giftshops hoping to capitalize off the stone. The visit doesn't require much time as I would only recommend the short path around the base of the Tower. The Tower is cool to look at,... More

It's worth the drive if you're in this area. Take a walk around the monument if you can - some beautiful views, and the monument looks different from different angles and lighting. For the kids, be sure to do the Junior Ranger program (stop by the visitor's center when you arrive).

we stayed 2 nights on our way to yellowstone in september 2016. temps in the low 90's and evenings were cool and easy to sleep without AC. camp ground was very quite, very clean and the national park (live on site) ranger was very knowledgeable and friendly. easy access for parking your camper and clean gravel to park on keeping... A spot for mountain climbers. But it's also a holy place for more than 20 indian tribes like the Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Lakota, Kiowa and more. The Tower is 264 meters high and it's nice to walk around it.

On your way from Mount Rushmore make sure you visit this place! The "rock" is so worth a visit - I spent one night there and could here the coyotes before I fell asleep.

I'm 47 years old and after seeing the movie, "Close encounters of the 3rd Kind" I've been dying to come here and check it out myself. It's everything I thought it was and more. Great time. Must come see it, it's better than expected.

This location has been on my bucket list for years. When a friend invited me on a trip out here, I was quick to say yes. The park was great. We hiked around the base, it took about an hour, but much more time could be spent. Great informative plaques throughout.

What a unique feature. I can see why they used it in that movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It literally just up out of the earth in an otherwise flatish area.
