You have to experience the view for yourself. The mountain faces in front of you at the water's edge, the smell of the wind coming off the lake, the turquoise water from snowmelt runoff twonlaoes above it, the absolutely warming hospitality the store and cabins have to offer. It's not only a privilege to visit, it's a dream that I... More

Peaceful. Relaxing. Sun was out. Mountains were beautifully covered with snow. Lots of picture-taking opportunities.

It is a short drive up the canyon to Convict Lake, where there is parking next to the lake. I am no longer much of a hiker, but I enjoy bird watching and photography by the bridge, creek, and lake. You can fish here in season, or grab a cup of coffee down the road from the lake at the... More

We've been to Mammoth in different seasons and the Convict Lake looks amazing in all of them! During the summer you can rent a boat and relax in the middle of the lake. Amazing views !

Caught in a snow storm, while walking one of the trails. So beautiful, I just kept going. Be prepared in winter you never know when it's going to snow.

My family and I hiked around the lake with our dog. Beautiful scenery and it is an easy hike. Took a couple of hours.

Wonderful place year round in main dining. Pricey but food and dining experience is worth it. In the summer the bar area is open for outside dining. Pizza and a beer Apres a hike around Convict Lake is a must. They also host weddings outside. Just a lovely get away from town with great views.

It was a beautiful clear winter day, roads were open and the trail was open for walking although not plowed. Wonderful mountain reflections.

If you stay at Mammoth and love hiking, this is a must do! The trail around the lake gives you different views depending on the season and time of the day you visit! Even in August, it was cold though. Wear layered clothing. There are picnic options, benches to relax and wild life sights are normal. As someone noted, don't... More

I have been here many times and the favorite is summer. You can take a very easy hike around the lake which is just beautiful. If you want a challenge, you can hike up the path at the south end and go as high as you want. Great people all around on the trails doing the same. Highly recommended.
