Over all, a nice stay at the Mammoth Inn, however, if you eat there be ready to get through a couple of bottles of wine before dinner turns up.

Although we had a day where the smoke closed in and visibility became poor, I was so glad we were there and plan to go back. The views we were able to see were spectacular, the ruggedness and beauty outstanding. The hiking trails are numerous.

We took the gondola to the top and made our way down the mountain to take in the stunning views. Less than 5 miles to the foot of the mountain. Great wee trail.

Riding the lift is great. Amazing what you can see. You can get off and on and do short hikes. You really are high up on the mountain.

Mammoth is much less busy if you ski weekdays (M-F). Being the closest "big hill" to LA, weekends are much busier. I drive up Wed night, stay in cheap hotel in Bishop, ski Thursday, spend night in Mammoth Lakes, ski Friday... More

By April, it will definitely be spring style skiing. The snow will be better on top were the temps remain lower throughout the day and night, and the snow will be likely a 7-Eleven Slurpy at the lower elevations. By June... More
