This was a great stop on our tour of Death Valley. It is a bit of a drive, but the view is great. You can actually walk around the rim, which my 18-year-old loved. The overall park is fantastic to visit!

You don't need 4-wheel drive car to drive there. It is very close to good highway. Crater view is very picturesque

This is worth the drive. The crater is huge. You have to see it to comprehend the size of it. Really awe-inspiring.

A little bit far away, about 57miles from Furnace Creek Visitors center. Amazing view to the crater, it is 600ft deep and half mile wide.

The crater is easily accessible by car. Paved road with a large parking lot. You park right at the crater's edge. There is a trail around it if you are feeling adventurous. The day we were there the wind was so strong we didn't attempt...More

My wife and I had a very enjoyable walk around the crater. It is an easy walk and a fantastic way to see an unbelievable site. But so much of Death Valley fits that description.

If you decide to go down into the crater like I did, be prepared to exert some effort. The views from the bottom aren't that special. The climb down is a little tough because you are on a path with loose sand/gravel. The climb up...More
