We visited the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum before heading to Cumberland Island the next day. The museum is very informative in regards to the history of the island and St. Marys.

Great way to spend a day while in St. Mary's, GA. We hiked the river trail to the ruins. Saw horses along the way and they were at the ruins also. Spray your shoes and ankles with insect repellent to guard against ticks.

Just stunning! I really enjoyed the magnificent ruins and the beautiful wild horses. The ferry ride was well organized. There is absolutely no way to buy anything on the island, so bring everything with you. I highly recommend insect repellent spray, sunblock and a lot...More

This museum is informative of the area. We learned about the history of Cumberland Island from the early people to the Carnegie family and the war of 1812. There were volunteers to answer questions and an informative video. It was priced right, free.

Nice, small museum with helpful staff. Takes about an hour or less to get a quick history of St Mary's and Cumberland Island. Best pictures around of the old mansions. Definately worth the time if you are in St Mary's.

We took the 11:45 ferry not realizing that tours only available with earlier ferry. But... there is a 4.3 mile hike that is amazing. It crosses the island twice, puts you on the ocean for 1.8 miles, and you see the estate ruins as well....More

We are local and it took us some time to get here, but the exhibits were certainly educational and some of them were entertaining. If I were visiting I would certainly stop by.
